We’ve made it to the end! Late this afternoon you’ll get to see who YOU have chosen as your Festival Di Soldi winner. Join me at some point maybe not 5pm WHO KNOWS, for the results, and let’s hope @Rita will be turning up with a bottle of wine or two, to tell us that we’re all SWINES for leaving her beige entry in the semi’s.

I’d advise you to keep this first page open when the results start coming in, so I don’t end up being bombarded with “Who’s Venezuela again?” and “I didn’t even realise Norway was taking part lol”. I’ll pop on the YouTube playlist and recaps shortly too to give yourselves a reminder.

Based on my experience of running these things no matter how much you plan around timing and accommodating other people it never quite works! Just follow what works for you, and don't be afraid to pause things if it feels like not that many people are around/engaging.

Don't push it back if it doesn't suit you, there will be people around for sure. And I bet you can't wait for this to be over :D
 
I note less votes than ASFM.

The semis seem to have lost a few on the way.

Well apart from all the people who called it noise I mean
 
I felt at least a little vindicated when mine qualified, though I imagine it was by the skin of its teeth. However as "Born On the Wind" (lol indeed) seems universally derided, and in fact not even interesting enough to muster up a more scathing put down than "dull dull dull", I almost feel I have to EXPLAIN myself :D

It's 100% a generic pop song, yes, but I entered that because I genuinely kind of love it. I think the melody is actually lovely and as a song it's simple and effective - better via headphones mind. I found it quite recently and have been listening a lot (the sound quality of both youtube and spotify version sounds crap to me, but that might be more because the song was made in a few hours :bad: - yes, it took that long!) There wasn't much more thought to it than that, but I stand by it. I definitely could have made more "effort", but then I could say that about 70% of entries, regardless of musical differences.

As I say, my approach to Kalavision was entirely different and I have (or had) way more faith in doing well there.

Still I was utterly gobsmacked and delighted to be in the final, so tonight should be fun even if bottom 5 beckons!
 
I could have played it much safer with another of Holiday Sidewinder's songs I toyed with that I suspect would have gone down better, with an actual (totally gay baiting) video. Her album is fab by the way and surprised not see even a small moopy mention somewhere

I suppose the small vocal few make it seem like more, but I suspect you'll do alright. I love it personally and wouldn't usually bother with...whatever that music is :)
