Melodifestivalen 2025: Deltävling Five (Jönköping)

What a night of dreams!

I was very distracted by how absolutely TERRIFIED fat(ter) Alec Baldwin from Arvingarna looked throughout Ring Baby Ring. Was it the stairs? :D

Arwin's song was very good and he had charisma, but another who I think was harmed by how obvious they made it that he wasn't really doing much of the singing.

Sara was QUITE the shock. Song is a 6/10 but performance matters and she was one of the ones who was obviously performing live and doing a great job of it.

Victoria's truly admirable lack of rhythm, coordination or talent was one for the ages. "SO MUCH FUN!" :D

Vilhelm being scalped was such sweet, sweet homosexual justice. I hope he's never seen or heard from again. :disco:

Scarlet song is just OK, better than last year by a mile. But I would also observe that their live vocals came through, even if not necessarily in a good way. :D I really think that matters! It's hard to connect to a total mimefest.

AC results really could not have gone better, obviously.

Every time I've seen my cats today I've just shouted J'ADOREEEEE at them.

Bartholomew is sick of my shit

So, I’m obviously delighted with the second chance results, and as I said in the Serbian thread, cheating is fine if it’s for the right reasons, but I remember thinking what an unprecedentedly huge margin that was for Hush Hush under this voting system, and what a small share of the vote the Heat 5 song ended up getting.

It’s only when I wake up this morning that I also remember being REPEATEDLY redirected to Meira’s page on the app every time I tried to vote for Arwin. :o

Does Saga Ludwigsson only do country music? I can see her winning the whole thing in future.

I think one of my quiet highlights of the night was that video of baby Arwin to Popular :D What a little queen!

I am obsessed. Let’s break this down:

Wind machine ✅
Awful vocals despite the obvious presence of a fat woman somewhere off the side doing the heavy lifting in the verses ✅ ✅
A disco slut looking like she’s just been extracted from a porn movie and with zero understanding a) why she has been dropped on a Melodifestivalen stage, b) what Melodifestivalen actually is and c) what that microphone in her hand is used for ✅ ✅ ✅
Managing to be off key in the spoken word bits ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅
J’ADORE ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅

Absolutely dreadful.

10/10, no notes

💃

The audible pyro shots during the chorus and the brief moments when you could hear her real CROAKING through the noise made me feel so much JOY 😭

All I’ve listened to today is this. What a performance as well. The first minute she doesn’t seem to know where she is. Then she starts to get a bit Britney circa 2007, before doing that hell of a high kick and seemingly somehow getting IT and leaning into being an absolute hot mess. What a fucking woman :disco:

I also can’t tell if the breathless ‘Saint Tropez’ or the ‘J’adore’ with the wink is the best (of few) live vocal lines, but fuck me.

As the resident twink fan, I'm very surprised and confused to see that Arwin was popular? I thought the staging was wasted on a very average song and was hoping for his sake that the dream of his was coming 5th in a Melfest heat.

Love how many newbies have made the final this year, and been shown that it isn't as predictable as things initially appear, with the major shock of Arvingarna being bottom 2.

There was nothing that notable about it but it was still a low-key banger.

The ad-libs in Love It! are still sending me wild (you’ll need to listen in studio as she didn’t bother with many of them live :D)

‘Ohhhhhhh I LURRVE it!’
‘Do YOUUUUU?’

My favourite is the very quiet “I like it” somewhere in the middle of the song

Obviously the chorus of "Love It!" is absolutely fabulous, but ultimately I think it's the verses that sell it to me. They carry such a sense of THRILL and URGENCY in getting ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE :disco:
