Sweden 2025: KAJ - Bara bada bastu (1 Viewer)

How is this ACTUALLY going to do? A song in Swedish making fun of Finns with a line about Arja Saijonmaa. Will Europe GET IT? Will anyone around them GET IT? Will it be deemed IRRELEVANT? I envisage a top 10, but an 8th/9th/ disappointing for Sweden finish, but I'm sure they're glad to have sent something different for once.

And can we appreciate the range of languages this year! There's loads!

Despite my initial misgivings about Sweden adding to the ’novelty’ pileup this year, I do think it’s the best and most accessible of the bunch and likely to finish top 5.

According to the odds they're still the favourites (or joint favourites) which surprises me... at least it means a much more open contest than if Mans had gone.

I’m no Eurovision aficionado so I’m not sure why I listened but that sounded pretty dreadful to my ears. It sounds like a tick box exercise of mixing German schlager with some Eastern European sounds.

Was Måns really going to be a major competitor for the win? Sweden struggle on public vote relatively and I’d say he would’ve done very average there and been no where near the win. I’d say this has more chance of a win than him.

Also, for anyone lusting after them - it's all fine! They were all born in 1993 :disco:

I think it will do well but it's not a winner. At this point I think France(depending on the song but just have a feeling) and Austria have the best shot here.

I don’t think they really NEED to get the Swedish/Finnish in-jokes for it to land.

It works on a “Swedes love saunas, fun!” level.

It depends. If France sends something good, they’ll come 21st. If they send something truly foul, they’ll be top 3.

I think this could be top 5 and has the potential to win the televote. It’ll sweep the Nordics and Baltics who love their saunas. Sweden are the default jury darling and they are sending the most charismatic performers in the contest (Måns is dust).

I reckon Finland have the best chance of winning the televote away from Israel/Ukraine.

I’m absolutely here for this. I had briefly checked out their album just recently, didn’t know they were trying for Eurovision.

SAUNA:tisch:

It's doing crazy streaming numbers and seems to be on the cusp of breaking out into the psyche of non-eurovision loondom. It's starting to feel like a WINNER, or at the very least the one everyone's going to remember after the event (see also Cha Cha Cha)

For what it’s worth, SVT have apparently confirmed that it will be sung in Swedish in Basel.

(It sounds like it was technically up to SVT to decide? It’s been ages since they’ve had to make this decision).
