I'd rather snoop around the trio. 😛
Speaking of that, 6 Danieli Drive did finally sell, effective August 9. Or at least the house did...turns out the land is leasehold. Alas, the folio has no info about the former owners. But we do now know that the Ryans don't own it anymore.

Fair enough  you're certainly good at that with these interesting documents! 😀

Curiouser and curiouser...
Remember this ISWC database? https://iswcnet.cisac.org/
Access it, click on the "by Creator" tab, then enter 00145642476 in the "Creator IP Name Number(s)."
That's the code for Nicky Ryan. Scroll through the results.
Sure, lots of Enya songs are there. But there are also a number of works where he's the only writer. Some appear to be ad jingles. There are other works on which he is credited along with one or more another writer.
Did they mistakenly assign the same number to a different Nick(y) Ryan, thus combining the works of two different people? Or has Nicky been keeping busy with side work over the years? 😝

I accessed that - fascinating if Nicky Ryan was actually involved in sound production for all of these! 🎶
Pampers, Cornetto - even the House of Maxwell programme 😅
How/where did you obtain those creator codes?

The creator codes show up in the BMI database: https://repertoire.bmi.com/
The BMI and ASCAP sites were probably the first places anyone did much snooping regarding the trio. Going all the way back to the 90's, when "Ascension" and "Sirenes" were spotted and thought to be new songs that would show up on the next Enya album, lol.
I actually first noticed these odd things credited to Nicky on Sunday, while I was playing with the MLC site: https://portal.themlc.com/search#work

[LOL, due to the 1000-character limit, I'm cutting this into parts]

Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to write a proper response however real life kept getting in the way. 😤

I don't recall there were any explicit statements to the effect that they no longer had a record contract. We concluded they were "free agents" based on a number of clues. Mainly, the copyright details of DSI as opposed to all earlier studio albums going back to Watermark, which I'll explain later.

Also, very few of the country-specific Warner records websites list Enya on the artist roster anymore. The only English-language Warner site that lists Enya is...Warner Music Ireland. IMHO, that is why it was chosen as the target for Enya.com.

Another clue is the way they are REALLY slacking off ever since AWC! 🦥 😴

As promised, more about the copyrights...

All of Enya's studio albums through AWC were fully copyrighted by Warner. This means the record company actually took ownership of the recordings once Aigle/Enya handed them over. This has been standard industry practice for decades. It is the issue Prince was carrying on about in the early 90's. But it's still going on; even Taylor Swift got locked into such a deal and has no control over her older albums, thus she is re-recording them.

OTOH, DSI was licensed to Warner. Aigle retained ownership of the recording. While it's *possible* they arranged a multi-album deal that allowed this, for the other reasons given above I don't think that's what happened.

Being independent could be a good thing, if they were a bit more prolific. Since they have their own studio, they could record music then immediately put it out on the streaming services. Cutting out the "middle-man" record company would mean keeping more of the income for themselves, too. Alas, no sign yet they will take advantage of this freedom.
=====================
I'm still quite intrigued by all the "Nick(y) Ryan" stuff I found in the ISWC. Though in some cases it's very hard to believe "our" Nicky was involved, even if that is what the database is saying. I'll keep researching as time permits.

Here's the story about that pic you asked about on another forum. Info from a huge LOTR fan who was a long-time member of the Unity forum at Enya.com:

The woman standing next to Enya is Tania Roger from Weta Workshop (a company specializing in special effects and props). Next to Tania Roger is Richard Taylor (also from Weta Workshop). Next to Richard Taylor is Alan Lee who is a illustrator and conceptual designer.
The pic was taken in NZ, IIRC when the trio went there to screen the movie.

Thanks for that info! (Also for the clear explanation about the supposed free agent status) :D
Do you know more about this upload that appeared on YouTube a few days ago? I would guess the 'GJB' in the middle has something to do with a fan named Gracie-Jo, but not sure. 🤔💡
Of the many performances of Orinoco Flow that Enya has done, I don't think I'd seen this Enya performance before, have you? 🎶

1) YW.
2) I saw the "new" OF performance. Whoever put that watermark on it should be prosecuted, lol. Neither I nor Andrew had seen it before. We have no idea what show it's from, and the YT channel doesn't allow comments so we can't ask. Anyway, always nice to see something "new"!

I had a look at this list of performances and although it probably isn't a complete list (missing the Australia and Norway performances at least) I wondered whether it could be for The Late Late Show in Ireland? The ceiling looks more like the set of a television show; I don't remember seeing a video of Enya performing Orinoco Flow in Ireland in the 'era' of Watermark💡

Yeah, that list may not be complete. I'll try to do a little sleuthing. Right now I'm looking for videos of Late Late Show performances from 88-89 to see if there are any similarities to the stage set up.
It's a Yamaha keyboard, plus the giant "vases" on the stage. Could it be Japan? There's no applause when she finishes, so seemingly not a performance in front of an audience. Or they waited a long time to react, lol.

I thought Japan at first, I thought this was the only one but there are possibly more after all. True, the stage set up looks a bit more Japanese. 😊
The Only If Enya performance here was from a TV show in Japan (seemingly unknown too)

I found two 1989 Late Late Show clips that show the stage set-up. It's quite a bit different from the set-up in the mystery video.

disneyteletubby

True, a bit different, the horizontal light panels that the Late Late show has aren't visible, has railings around the stage look different to these
Maybe it's the same mystery show as the other Japan (Only If, 1997) performance, haha

Alas, we're missing a lot, especially from those earlier years. Heck, there was a Japanese interview in 2015 that we don't have. All I've ever seen are these screenshots!

disneyteletubby
disneyteletubby
Regarding the above, it's probably a different interview, but do you know of a 2015-16 interview where Enya talks about an old film and also Rachmaninoff? I'd only seen it once.
I still have no idea why you are so sure.
It's more of an instinct ☺️ plus they have mentioned working on new music; Nicky Ryan literally quotes "besides the new album" so we can assume it's in progress. 🎶
Then again why are you seemingly sure a new album won't happen?
Back in 2007 they supposedly were "preparing their biography in film and book form"
That's interesting, thanks for the link; not seen mentions of that before. :disco: I'd guess they'd shelved the idea - Enya releasing And Winter Came and The Very Best of Enya in the two years after. Plus we know that their 'story' continued after 2007; Enya released Dark Sky Island in 2015, and likely still busy with new music to this day.
🎬 Resuming in 2027 at the earliest :D
