AS5 E03: Get a Room!

IMHO don't seem to be reviewing either which is a huge shame.
There seems to be a bit of a crisis in the Chicago drag scene at the moment around black queens being shut out/not given the same opportunities as others. There was a dramatic video meeting about it last night which I skimmed through. Dixie and the bar she works at have come in for a lot of criticism over it, though she has responded well to it all from what I can see. My guess is they just don't think it's the right time for their usual antics on IMHO. Interested to hear from our Chicago correspondent @KindaCool

Shea's appearance was pretty explosive - Dixie wasn't involved, the real villain seems to be someone called Trannika Rex. About 1h46 for those interested

Untucked was lacking this week. I'd have had Mariah stick around 1 more week, but she did have a vivid week 1 performance that exceeded all expectations. I never thought anything of India's hair whipping at the time, but now that the dust has settled it's even less impressive (please refer to Roxxxy vs Alyssa for more unequivocal evidence).

Yvie is so much hotter with hair and eyebrows (the file Ru Lenska gifted us with has a clip of the Werk tour at the end).

Juice is definitely on paper a good drag race lip sync song

the girls just fucked it

Shea totally deserved the bottom if you ask me. I think she was the worst performance overall and the outfit did nothing for me and didn't feel distinct either. As much as I love her, I was actually quite up for her being sent home and then inevitably coming back as part of a twist.

I thought all the suites were actually quite good and the performances were mostly average. I think Juju was the obvious standout, though, and the fucking TOMFOOLERY of that speech about the cats made the show :D. Amazing no one commented on how she BLATANTLY didn't know the words to Juice though, in that fucking lacklustre lip-sync. Monet came to SLAY, though, albeit that I thought that wig SCREAMED for a reveal.
I literally said as soon as she came out "there's a pussycat wig under that ", and she even seemed to be tugging at it one stage, so was very surprised to not see a wig reveal.

I think when the lip syncs are lacklustre on both parts they intersperse it with talking heads like they did this week. They don't always do that do they?

Agreed. It was appalling. And I think it's an AMAZING song to lipsync to (FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE).

The editing is SO heavy-handed. So obvious Jujubee was winning this week from about 3 minutes in when she announced in talking head, apropos of nothing, that she'd never won a challenge before.

Having said that, I was astonished that they gave Mayhem and Blair's room the 'win' - to me it felt like a 'group' that had been 'randomly drawn' (off-camera) to be the bottom 2 (with Blair staying obviously).

A frustrating episode to watch for sure.
