Don't Shut Saturday Down

Guests have started arriving at the back garden and I suddenly feel REALLY NERVOUS  Trying to gauge the correct time to just go down into a crowd of people I don't know is difficult!

Ideally we want at least one of the other neighbours we've met to be there first, so we at least have something to talk about with someone IN THEORY :tongueout:

It got busy straight away, he seems to be very popular!

Just get down there, pick somebody interesting-looking, walk up to them and say "Hiya, I'm COB" then point something out like the lovely roses, or doesn't that trellis on the shed look lovely - anything random - and go from there. Remember to mingle too!

Part of me just can't be arsed socialising with people I'm never going to meet again, especially since I'm convinced we were only invited out of politeness and so that we couldn't complain about the noise

I find that's the best thing about neighbour parties. Drink the free booze, eat the free food, meet interesting people who you wouldn't normally meet and hear all of the juicy neighbourhood gossip when the alcohol starts loosening lips. If they're anything like my neighbour's parties you should leave before 9pm as the fighting normally kicks off around 10pm :D

You know what, I’ve been like this most of my life. I’ve got enough friends. But quite often I force myself to go and do stuff anyway and inevitably have a great time.

Just after lockdown lifted I went out with a bunch of people I didnt know and had a great time. Plus you can easily escape if its shit!

That turned into a reasonably productive day. Cupboard cleared out - repurposed into a bookcase if sorts. My "set" for Tuesday is almost sorted, I've dyed my hair and I've found my old microcassette dictaphone.

One downer - the "new formula" stuff for stripping out my hair dye is absolute shite compared to its predecessor. Oh well.

It's actually fine. @COB recognised someone and we've formed our own group. There was a 4ish year old child running around which was a pain but other than that I'm having a good time now.
Yes, there was a friend from my days on the bear scene, it was strange but actually quite nice, and of course the more you drink the less awkward it becomes :tongueout:
