29. Italy

A good start, you’ve got the reigning champions. Three time winners, also winning in 1964 and 1990. They’ve been one of the most successful countries since returning in 2011, with eight top ten finishes (and five top five finishes).

Currently 3rd in the odds, with previous entrants Emma, Fabrizio Moro and Mahmood all within contention of representing Italy on home soil next year.

21. Russia
Another heavyweight. Russia have only won once though, (undeservedly) in 2008 with Dima Bilan. They’ve been a force to be reckoned with since though, with four podium finishes since 2008 alone - and an ever growing number of peace ballads in between. Finished 9th most recently with Manizha.

Currently ranked fourth with the bookies.

4. Belgium

One of the seven countries who took part in the first contest in 1956, though they’ve only managed one win in that time - and that was 35 years ago. They have enjoyed recent success though, most notably with Loïc Nottet in 2015 and Blanche in 2017 (both finishing fourth), although have fallen off a cliff since, having only qualified once since 2017 - which was a paltry 21st place finish with Hooverphonic this year.

The good news is they’re back with the Wallonia broadcaster RTBF next year (responsible for Loïc and Blanche’s efforts), so hopes are likely going to be a bit higher for Jérémie Makiese, who’s currently ranked 12th in the odds.

13. Ireland

Home of QoL DAWN MARTIN, Ireland have really fucked things up since somehow managing to win FOUR FUCKING TIMES in the 90s. Recent highlights include Dustin The Turkey, Niamh Kavanagh attempting to recreate her 1993 success and Jedward.. twice.

The past couple of years have been in the hands of Irish LESBAIN OF THE YEAR (citation needed) Lesley Roy, and of course the poor love ended up finishing LAST in her semi. The Irish delegation are reportedly considering reintroducing a national final for 2022. Will this improve their chances? The bookies currently have them ranked 19th.

14. Cyprus

First took part in 1981, and have had mixed results, erring towards the poor side until recently. Their best result of course came in 2018 with Fuego, and the Cypriot broadcaster has seemingly attempted to replicate Eleni’s success every year since. So with rumours of another hot female BANGER in the works, expect another decent song, which the artist of course is unable to hit a note of live, to finish about fifteenth.

Currently ranked 8th.

8. Georgia

Taken part (almost) every year since their debut in 2007 - with two top ten finishes, the last being in 2011 and three entrants named Sopho. They‘ve turned to piss recently though, not qualifying since 2016, most recently finishing a resounding 16th place in the semi with Tornike this year.

You’re resting your sweepstake hopes on the PROGRESSIVE ROCK band CIRCUS MIRCUS. Currently ranked dead last with bookies, good luck love :eyes:

11. France

Not a bad choice at all (unless you‘re @BlitzenGiraffe🎄). One of the most successful countries going back a few decades with five wins in total, though none since 1977. After turning to shit like much of the rest of Western Europe in the 00s they turned things round in 2016 and are now often a strong favourite every year - very nearly winning the whole thing in Rotterdam with EVIL BABS a mere 25 points off victory.

Currently ranked 5th.

Ooooh this reminds me, I crossed paths with EVIL BABS just this week in my street.
