David Bowie's biggest selling album, "Let's Dance" was recorded in just 17 days, start to finish. This was partly because he hadn't finalised his record deal and the sessions were self-funded, Bowie being famously stingy after being ripped off by his previous manager.

Yes! It was co-written by Michael Kamen, who also arranged the orchestra tracks for Moments of Pleasure, This Woman's Work etc. He originally wanted it to be from Maid Marion's point of view and offered it to Kate but she turned it down. I can kind of imagine her TRILLING her way through it
 
Britney Spears wrote 'A Brief History of Time' but gave it to Stephen Hawking as she didn't think it fit her sound.
