TV Ratings 2021

Casualty isn’t usually that far up the chart, although all figures are dire.

I feel Eastenders is going through a MAJOR LULL at the moment. Janine needs to hurry up and get back on our screens to save it!

Those ratings for Eastenders are abysmal. :o
There is still the impact of them being on iPlayer in advance though. I don't think it will make a HUGE amount of difference, but the figures are so close further down the chart that I suspect it would be enough to get it back in the top 20.

I think it must have increased after Casa Amor.

OT: How much do celebs get paid for Masterchef? I have tried to google it but can’t seem to see anything.

I am assuming it’s nothing on what celebs get paid for IACGMOOH?

All about the time difference, innit?

Rio was on in the afternoon (morning events) through to early hours of the morning. Meaning a lot more live stuff was during sociable hours,

Tokyo was hard work- believe me, I lived on Tokyo time for a week and it killed me.

Wow those are GREAT figures for Vigil in this climate. :disco:
And over 4m of that was time shifted, so I reckon it'll pick up a fair bit more in the coming weeks as well.

Vigil in fact is a good example of how people watch TV now - only 3.720m of its viewing was live. A further 1.716m watched later on the same day, and a further 4.188m by the end of the week.

I've only started the last year or two. It's very watchable, if rarely exciting.

It strikes me as typical Sunday night fodder which I usually enjoy a LARGE slice of, but something about it puts me off. Last nights episode seemed quite interesting when I was looking at the TV guide but never got around to watching it. If lockdown didn’t make me watch it I’m not sure anything will.

Vigil still pulling the viewers in and Endeavour is apparently considerably less appealing than old Vera.

The regular weekly chart wasn't updated on Monday, and then I forgot to check again until today.

Vigil picking up viewers over the last couple of episodes and beating Strictly (admittedly only the launch show which always attracts fewer viewers).

At last things start to get interesting :david:

I've said it before but the figures really do highlight the shift in how people watch TV now. For both Vigil and GBBO, only about 45% of the viewing was as live broadcast. The rest either time shifted that day, or (for the majority in both) later in the week. Even Strictly, which I tend to think of as event TV you either watch live or don't bother with, has 60% live viewing.

Vigil week two was up to 12.5m after 4 weeks, down slightly on the first week.

How do the Strictly and GBBO figures compare to last year? They look largely similar?

Strictly didn't start til the end of October last year, and the ratings were higher than normal because more people were staying in. Ratings are slightly lower though, but have increased week on week.

@lolly I just checked last years figures in last years thread and they are both lower, but we were amidst the pandemic this time last year.

Strictly got a viewing share of 50.5% which I'm sure the BBC will be delighted by, even if the total is down. I think it's usually around 45%. The only other show with 40%+ was Vigil with 42.7%.

I thought Claudia said something about the highest in 5 years, although she might have just been talking about Tess's backstage panic attacks.
