Congratulations Dr. Geru Hallwell (1 Viewer)

Oh God. Get the ear plugs out! :grr:

Let's celebrate

Well that was quite enjoyable. I wish it was longer though, and there doesn't seem to be an extended version in the ITV2 schedules. It would have been nice to have had some talk about her solo career, especially how it started to flop (incidentally, Piers saying that the solo record sales rank is Geri/MC/MB/Emma/VB is COMPLETELY wrong). Also, no talk of her autobiographies/documentaries and her need to confess everything. Or what she's up to next. I don't think they even mentioned her childrens' books.

The quote "Slowly, slowly as time went on I was the one that stayed in contact with them all, I went round to see them and would write them letters." that I singled out before pissed me off because:

a) whatever the contact she had with the girls, she was by no means THE ONE who maintained contact. Emma was tight with ALL of them, especially Melanie C.

b) the way she phrased that made it seem a bit GERI SAVES THE DAY. She was definitely the driving force behind the reunion, though.

c) behind the scenes, the Girls (apart from Victoria, perhaps) were NOT that keen on Geri once she left the group, until at least 2003 (and beyond, in some cases...)

Oh, and nothing really about the reunion! or about any future reunion, or if she still sees the girls, or the musical...

God she talked a lot of SHIT in that interview! :D

I hope the other four got together with loads of snacks to watch it together and bitch about her.

Well, Emma and Mel B contributed, but I doubt this shit registers on Victoria's RADAR

I'm sure Melanie will watch it on ITV Player this evening :D

Jon I am living for this post but I am not feeling the Ellie impression where you suggest a lot but don't actually SAY ANYTHING

Please can you elaborate on the following:

What the solo sales rank actually is
Which of the girls still hates Geri?

The INDIGINITY of Emma being ranked lower than Mel B in the solo success stakes. :(

SEVEN TOP TEN HITS PIERS YOU CUNT.

Victoria must have outsold Mel B's solo stuff. Out of Your Mind obliterated I Want You Back surely. And the rest of the shit was equally unpopular for both.

Yeah Victoria's album did go top ten actually. Compared to NUMBER TWENTY EIGHT SMASH Hot. :D

Although maybe with sales of Hot and LA State Of Mind combined... oh.

1. Melanie C
2. Geri
3. Emma
4. Victoria
5. Melanie B

None of them HATE her, but Emma and Mel B have made disparaging comments, nothing that scandalous or that I can PARTICULARLY REMEMBER

I remember watching Emma on some panel show back in '99 talking about how she couldn't watch Geri's Look At Me video because it was like a slap in the face for everything they worked for together.

Its as bitchy as I've ever seen her get. (i.e. not very).

FAO Spice fans. If you quickly flip over to 4Music they're currently playing the last ever Spice related number one. :(

It's enough to make me feel a little nostalgic. :(

I missed the Mel C, Mel B and earlier Geri number ones but I've already seen Holler and What Took You So Long.

SIMPLER TIMES. :(

I just had an epiphany. Cheryl Cole is TOTALLY the Geri Halliwell of the 10s.

Oh it's EVERY NUMBER ONE OF THE 21ST CENTURY, not a Spice special :(

Emma looks amazing in the What Took You So Long video

That's a terrible epiphany VoR. Cheryl doesn't have half the star quality of QUEEN G

Cheryl doesn't really have ANYTHING ABOUT HER

Geri's desperation, stage-hogging lunacy was fabulous, and I WANT HER BACK

True. Cheryl would never emerge from the caverns of a GIANT INFLATABLE VAGINA at an Awards show.

I suppose every generation gets the gay icon it deserves.

VoR acting all OLDER than is.

Surely you've not hit the mid 20s zone yet?

I am 24.

The Spice Girls are my youth icons and even their solo stuff was nearly a decade ago now. I think I've earned my BITTER OLD QUEEN stripes. :(

The first time I heard 'Holler', I was riding in a Renault Clio with two lesbians.

Renault never got in touch with us to replace Nicole and Papa, FUNNILY ENOUGH.

Bag It Up and Never Be The Same Again were number ones OVER TEN YEARS AGO

The day I realise none of them have been in the top ten for a decade, I'm planning an elaborate suicide with 'We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight' playing on repeat beside my corpse.

Fancy a PACT, Jonfesh? :disco:

When you reach the age of your childhood idols and you haven't experienced significant chart success you know it's over :(

Semi OT: This video sums up everything I love and miss about CD:UK. Emma Bunton miming a load of absolute BOBBINS with a crap fringe, looking fat, crowd inexplicably going mental.

Even LOUISE had gone PLATINUM by THIS POINT :(

I haven't even gone SILVER!

If it's any consolation, when you take into account the years of lying about her age Geri Halliwell was probably about 35 when she first joined the Spice Girls.

Having just watched that video, I suggest you REFAMILIARISE yourself with the following words:

Fat.
Mental.

However, your use of "bobbins" was strictly ON THE BALL.
