That was shaky ground on the vocal front there

Bring back Amy Diamond at least she had some tunes

I honestly don’t know how well John Lundvik will do at Eurovision, gospel-esque pop isn’t exactly a heavily explored genre in the Euro arena.

I’m pulling much more towards NQ than winner tbh

I totally get Eurovision winner vibes from John Lundvik. It’ll SOAK up jury votes, and it’s the kind of thing everyone watching at home can enjoy. The live sound mixing is exceptional, and really gives the performance a joyous feeling.

I wish Wiktoria’s styling was more current and less dowdy. If she was dressed for her age it would really help the performance.

She performed the shit out of that though, wouldn’t be shocked to see her getting a v big televote.

Bishara and Nano were shit vocally, and the crowd didn’t seem into them at all. John Lundvik’s cheer was still going on when Wiktoria took to the stage. He seems such a popular choice for winner I’d be stunned if anyone but him took it.

Has anybody ever received a full set of international jury 12s? Pretty impressive, either way.

Not all the female soloist clogging up the bottom of the scoreboard :D

V interested to see how John Lundvik does in Tel Aviv as comparing it to the competition I genuinely have no idea :D . Not convinced it’s a Eurovision winner at all.

My laptop decided to die at 6.30pm so not only did I not manage to do the prediction contest but I missed the first 20 minutes of the show!

Very expected winner and a good shot at winning the jury vote - BUT I am not convinced it's memorable enough to do as well in the televote. It's safe and nice but unexciting.

Well deserved winner that could go gangbusters at Eurovision, but that scoreboard split should be a major cause for concern. All the men (+ Hanna Ferm as a duet partner) in the top half, highest ranked solo female way down in 7th.

Speaking of, poor sad Wicky looked gutted when the televote came in. To flop on both fronts must really sting for her.

The Anna B redemption victory narrative didn't really kick in either. Still, I think just being there is a huge success for her.

The jury vote for Nano and the televote for Bishara are both absolutely damning indictments of Melfest/Eurovision in 2019.

That jury vote for Nano was a fucking JOKE. Coming second last in the televote was funny thoug, and TOTALLY deserved.

I kinda understand Bishara's televote in a way. Even though I think it's ridiculous.

I did mention a few years ago about the male dominance in MF but it seems more than ever now. If if Hanna had been singing the song on her own she probably would have been bottom half too. It's the same way a disproportionate percentage of reality TV show winners are male, it's just tougher for females. I still think it is a damning statistic that the last time 2 completely female acts qualified directly from their semis was in 2009.

God I was not expecting Anna to do quite so badly on the jury vote

I’m happy with the winner though. It has s real chance of standing out with those backing vocals at Eurovision

Are you crazy?!!? Non-qualifier for John Lundvik!?! Mad

Well you had a whole week to do it, sorry to know that but this is what happens when you leave it for the last minute.

The winner was so predictable and the unanimous jury vote made it very unexciting. I so knew Bishara was gonna be top 3. Lucky him MJ is dead.

I remember that man you all loathe here, Keith Mills or whatever his name is, saying Loreen was surely a non qualifier. He wasn't exactly right.

So apparently they’ll need to make some changes to John’s performance because apart from the 4 ladies on stage, he also had 3 off-stage backing vocalists. I suppose losing 2 won’t be too much of a hit. Maybe they’ll just pull one of them on stage, but I hope they keep them because I think it looks good!

Sadly saw the Anna result coming a mile off as Ashes to Ashes, as good a song as it is, seems to be a grower for most people and requires the context of Anna’s narrative to fully appreciate, neither of which the juries have.

Also the fact she didn’t see all that much of a boost on Spotify etc. after AC was kind of damning for her televote.

Surprised at Nano being at the business end of the jury votes. Everything else pretty much went to script. Delighted Lina didn’t come last.

I did wonder how many backing vocalists he had off stage - it sounded like more than one. He only really needs the one male backing though and the stage performance can stay as it is. I can’t hear any parts of the song where it would really suffer.

Really glad that we have the first MF winner for a while that hasn't relied on a prop gimmick for the performance.

Are we getting the amounts of votes this year (broken down by age band)?

Sad for Queen Malou and Baroness Lina. They rounded out our unanimous Top 3 at my viewing event, but John was #1 with everyone so I suppose that’s good

I think it sounds like a Gary Barlow solo track, albeit with better production.

Does ANYTHING count as a prop/gimmick these days

On that basis I’d say only Lisa didn’t have one last night
