I did. It's great but its a brick by brick remake of the original so if you've already played that there isn't much that is new. It looks gorgeous though.

If you'd like to play something similar but completely new there's the unofficial sequel Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
 
I’m playing Yakuza 0 - I’ve just been to the disco club to dance to Koi no Disco Queen :disco:

I've started playing Ori and the Blind Forest, which is really beautiful and right up my street :love:
 
I’m almost done with Spider-Man which is visually pretty but lacking in terms of story and gameplay. Feels like a good overlong demo.

Yeah, it's not a terrible game but there's a lot of just swinging around.
 
I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima and I love it. The gameplay is so much more fun than I expected it to be.
 
It's SO lovely and stylish to look at, but the time management aspect of Persona games stresses me out far too much :D
 
I'm in Scenario 3 of Shining Force III. This game is MONUMENTAL :disco: The battles are so expertly crafted, they allow you to play safe if you want to but tantalise you with rewards for being a bit bold and adventurous.

I have Corona to thank for this because I doubt I would have invested +150 hours in a non-handheld Strategy RPG these days were it not for the fact that I'm home most of the time.

At 98 hours and 41 minutes, I have finally finished Persona 5 Royal!

And unlocked new game plus...not a chance am I going for another 100 hours.

I enjoyed the game but it's definitely not a casual play. I feel a lot of the time management stuff could have been streamlined with nothing of value being lost. The story is quite entertaining though, especially the ending.

No idea what I'm going to play next. Something short definitely.

I do love a good long game. But I had the same experience with The Witcher 3. Amazing game beyond all expectations, but yeah not a casual play. Which is not necessarily a bad thing of course.

It took me about the same to finish the original game (but I was also obsessed with getting all the Personas).

I actually finished it and started game+ immediately because I wanted to work on getting all my confidants maxed out but I kinda faltered after the first palace. It goes a lot faster on the second run with your equipment from the previous game so you can run each palace in one day and then have all the extra time to finish the social quests.

I played a good chunk of the original game, but never finished it.I followed a guide for this playthrough so I ended the game with everyone maxed out and every Persona except the new game + one. I made judicious use of the fast forward button as well, so god knows what my playtime would have been if I actually read everything.
 
I’ve started Divinity Original Sin 2 and I’m loving it. I have tried playing these classic RPGs before but none have clicked but this one is doing it for me, I’m really enjoying the story and it’s not overly complicated.

I am dying to play this with Frau Zen but he keeps turning his nose up at it. I'm also looking forward to Baldurs Gate 3 by the same people
 
Baldurs Gate 3 looks absolutely epic. not the uncomplicated kind of rpg though
 
I just downloaded Borderlands 2 as it is dirt cheap. I like it, the dumb humor is tickling me
 
I’ve tried Baldur Gate several times, it’s just too much. And yes Baldur Gate 3 looks great but mighty complicated.

I also think I picked the right class and race for me and I’m playing it on easy so I’m not getting very frustrated.
 
Fall Guys is the only thing I’ve touched in a few weeks. I’m obsessed!
 
I feel like such a non-gamer fraud
I’m still playing Animal Crossing :)
And really got back into Tetris99 as well, I even got the expansion so I can play against the computer (but I always win)

finally opened up Mario & Rabbids, it’s quite fun
 
I'm definitely a glorified "casual gamer". I loved Rabbids, I really hope it gets a sequel as the potential for improvement is huge.

Is anyone watching High Score on Netflix? I'm on episode 1 right now and it seems good so far. I know there are tonnes of podcasts, but I do miss watching actual videogames TV content.

Oh we are soul sisters, I just watched Ep 1 last night, it’s quite well put together, I guess it might be the same people who did The Toys That Made Us etc? It’s very Netflix Doc
The title is rotted though, did they want to finish the design meeting before lunch? You might as well have called it Power Up :)

btw i love the videos by Jeremy Parrish, a deep dive into the old days of Nintendo gaming, reviewing each game in release order. Sounds awful and ten-a-penny but they are well researched and he’s not a gobby prick <3
 
:D I haven't played the game myself so I can't really say what he actually did, but he told me it was the PAUSE MENU as if it was a thing to be PROUD of!

Oh, I definitely feel like it was telling 3 stories that could have easily been the sole focus: the competition winner clearly a lifetime of gaming behind her (quite literally), the inventor and the crash itself. Will watch the 80s Nintendo one later, and also check out the other ones you listed.
 
Anyone else played / playing Death Stranding? I am 50+ hrs in and am narratively, emotionally, and metaphysically LOST AND DISTURBED but there is a lot of bare bum
 
It's not boring, but it is a slooow start. You have to accept you won't understand anything for quite a while, as you are drip fed tiny morsels of wacky context
 
Watching episode 2 of High Score. I do wonder what the biggest Nintendo collection actually looks like. I assume a fair few will start right from the 1889 playing cards.

My first anything Nintendo was the Merlin sticker book. I loved that thing, if only I still had it. Or maybe it was the GameBoy, but I didn't get a SNES until 1994 for Donkey Kong and Super Mario Kart (that I sold Unirally off about 5 years ago before realizing its significance still stabs me each time I remember it). The NES just didn't register with me at all other than a friend had it and I preferred my Master System II :D
 
Apart from playing one of them in arcade cabinet form, I only really know Monster World 4 thanks for the Wii's virtual console. It's a real gem in my opinion, so I'm delighted to hear that a new sequel is in the works. I hope a full blown remake is too.
 
@COB and anyone else into odd games on the SWITCH! In a sale I bought Kuukiyomi: Consider It. It was slashed to £2.99 (from £3.99)

it’s like Wario ware, in the style of the Wario Ware Wii calming instructional bits, and it’s all about being considerate in Japan.

some are fairly normal like moving along on the train if a couple wants to sit. Others are a bit more surreal. Like scoffing down the egg sushi from the conveyor belt before another customer further down the line (who is a humanoid chicken) sees them being offered

I've been ALL OVER this this month. Finally finished it last night. My first Yakuza game and it was batshit and brilliant.

I got WAY too involved in running the dodgy hostess club though and making over my girls and complaining when they were too tired for another shift on the game.

I’ve done that thing where I stopped playing it for a bit and it all seems a bit DAUNTING to get back into.

I found some of the forced mini quests a bit annoying. Like when you had to pep the band up to be serious rockers.
 
I've been really enjoying Fall Guys, having finally given it a go last week. There's something about the absolute CHAOS of dozens of little bean people jostling each other about that really cheers me up :D

I was also cheered up by observing how @ZenGiraffe and I react to the game in different ways (one of us is a ragequitter, let's just say that :zsazsa:)

It's a bullshit game with bullshit mechanics, bullshit physics and bullshit players. I will not participate in the bullshittery any longer.
