Cher - Christmas

do new Christmas albums ever go in top 10 or 20 in October? that seems pretty high.

I guess it's all about which festive playlists she manages to get herself on in a few weeks now.

Well I didn't buy it, but am really chuffed with the material - I just don't listen to albums with physical discs anymore and buying 2 Lisa Scott Lee vinyls was the final straw. I hope she promotes this in some way for the next decade or so.

Ends up #42 with 2,843 sales

Thats ok for a Chrismas Albam in October. Top 40 would have been nice, but i'd like this to be a slow burner up until xmas week. I hope radio 2 get on board at least in December. I keep seeing the Lauper duet getting rave reviews

A cheap as chips vaguely festive Believe-era retread was entirely the right move. Christmas came early.

There is also maximal remix potential to amp up the ridiculous further, especially for said ropey key change.

I haven't bothered to buy it, but you're welcome CH ER.

Literally the first thing I looked up when I woke up this morning after seeing that.

She hasn’t.

Are you telling me she didn't win all the TONYs available for her iconic one-woman production of West Side Story?

So we really do need a CH ER forum. Quite insulting that we don't already considering some of the riff raff that have been given one.

I have zero interest in this era :(

I love the single but I otherwise feel the same. I can’t get excited but then I’m not really a Christmas album person when it’s the same old schlock. As I said earlier, a proper balls out disco Christmas set would have swayed me, but as for this, well, I’ll wait to see if I can pick it up for a tenner in June.

OT: I have been hammering Cher all week, actually, as I found vinyl copies of Love Hurts and Heart of Stone for £3ish apiece in Sweden. Definitely my favourite Cher era.

I’m sorry but I already have my Christmas holy trinity (in the name of Mariah, Annie and Buble - that’s right, come for me Moopy).

(With smatterings of Tori / Aimee / Sarah for that all important singer songwriter Christmas vibe)

I don’t feel I need CH ER . Certainly not with that artwork anyway 💅

I've warmed to KYLIE CHRISTMAS in the last few years, to be fair, but other than that, I stick with the proper classics- Nat King Cole, the Spector Christmas album, the Peanuts Christmas album...

I say it every year but if you're looking for a Christmas album with a healthy dollop of camp nonsense, this one hits the spot nicely.

I’ll probably only stream this in the second half of December or maybe force the cd onto somebody for a Secret Santa. I did order Debbie Gibson’s Christmas album from last year last week as it was going for a tenner on vinyl, new with free postage. Another red wine purchase.

Kylie Christmas has some moments but on the whole no, though a live show of it at that time of year would be lovely.

My go to albums are Aimee Mann, Thea Gilmore and Tim Wheeler & Emmy The Great.

I'll be in, but not for another month. It'll probably end up like the Kylie one where I'm kind of glad that it exists, but I doubt I'll play it much at all. Dolly's Home For Christmas usually gets a play, and then I realise it's not that good.

Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas and the Spector albums are my Christmas albums of choice, and Ella's religious album getting one play on Christmas Eve because it holds a lot of memories.

Oh yes, add Ella to my list too. She's definitely a Christmas Eve spin.

Generally it is always Christmas SONGS> ALBUMS but the Tim and Emmy one is such a feel good joy. It is always my top pick.

Why has this become a general discussion topic of Christmas music? You are welcome to create your own topic. :eyes:

Angels In The Snow and DJ are my big keepers (I do think there was 1 more up to par, but I'm not listening to Christmas music for at least another 2 weeks). I really hope she performs the 2 I named as they have such classic CH ER gusto, but my guess is it will be the MOR stuff that gets wheeled out.

Is a music video too much to ask from (C)her these days? Her last music video (in which she appears) is Woman's World. That was released a decade ago.

CH ER will be the sole guest on Graham Norton alongside Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

I do hope is the sole musical guest too.
