Well, it’s fun for Spotify pop playlists.

*except New Music Friday apparently.

Oh its GOOD.

But i still worry its going to get overlooked by some of the more "out there" entries :(

I'm not too worried - they seem to be hinting towards a showstopper concept for the performance based on the single cover, which if borne out presumably doesn't involve Olly singing anything more than a LICK of the live vocals on the night :disco:

I'm not buying into this whole he's gonna be sh*t live narrative. There's performances online were he sounds ropey, there's others were he sounds good - if we get live performances before the final and theyre rubbish then fair enough.

I think it's also worth considering theres going to be a lot of casualties in the semis this year with it being so high energy - although whether that benefits the UK remains to be seen

I've just realised it's putting me in mind of Adam Rickitt's 'I Breathe Again'. As that's famously one of the top three songs ever written it explains why I've decided we're absolutely winning.

He has to be part of a small list of artists with a UK #1 hit (as member of a group counts) before doing Eurovision, there can't be that many, right? Up there with stars like Bonnie Tyler. Cliff Richard and Las Ketchup.

Yeah that’s pretty good.

Should be a solid radio hit and at least as big as Mae chart and streaming wise. Hopefully a nice top ten finish to boot.

Agree with the consensus- it’s good but it really needs a big ending at the very least to pull votes in I think

The negativity!

It won’t win, it won’t even necessarily be my favourite entry of the year (Hello Cyprus), but the quality of the song is a step above anything we have heard so far this year. It makes some of the other entries look rather amateurish. I guess that’s what money gets you.

Like an Ozempic Daniel Bedingfield, who also took an E and barged his way on stage mid-way through a Baby D set. I love it. We are being spoiled this year. When will the homosexual confetti of exploding gays end?

this will bomb, hard, but I fuck with it. the spoken middle 8 is tits

No harm, but Moopy was talking about how good the quality of the UK entry is even in the days of SuRie.

I never thought I’d say this, but I agree with Jark. I do really like the song, and if it were the new Carly Rae Jepsen single or something I’d be thrilled, but this is coming bottom five and bringing our lovely little revival period to an abrupt close. :(

Well we remain 7th in the odds since it's release. Neither moving up or down.

Honestly if a Cha Cha Cha rip off is the current fave then ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

This year might be providing banger after banger, but it doesn't hold a torch to 2021. My favourites that year were heavily varied. This year is kind of a mulch of banging, shouting and 90s synths.

It’s okay, it’s more of a solid album track - a great album intro! - than a pop banger that is an undeniable vote winner. I also think they probably waited too long to release it.

I like this a lot, the production is excellent and it sounds great. But they’ve done the same as last year and gone for a radio hit rather than a competitive song. This is not going to get droves of people voting for it, it’s not memorable enough. There’s no climax to the song. Definitely not the left hand side of the scoreboard.

The odds haven’t changed yet but they take a bit of time when songs are released at midnight. Let’s seee how they look later in the day.

Overall I’m kinda disappointed.

IF (and I don’t necessarily think this is the most likely outcome) this completely tanks and RIM TIM TAGI wins then yeah, I’d say we’ll pretty much be back to square one in terms of public opinion.

And it wouldn’t be entirely unwarranted.

Interestingly, the BBC’s review of its own song says it is in need of a DONK ending - so perhaps that is now inevitable for the final version.

I do feel like if this wasn’t the UK and the singer wasn’t male then the general consensus would be a lot fairer on here…

It’s easily one of the strongest songs of the year, completely different to a lot of the uptempos and, and there’s the small matter of it being Olly Fucking Alexander who we KNOW can put on a show. It definitely has a place and I can see how and where the points will come from.
