UK General Election 2024 - July 4th

How are you likely to vote?

  • Total voters
    67
Oh it’ll fizzle out nationally in like a day. But Chingford is a weird mix of voters and has a scalp so people are angry that they can see an easy route back for IDS, aside from it being about her. I don’t even live there anymore and I’m pissed off they might not chuck him out

On a brighter note the whole Lib Dem campaign is now my daily highlight, like a lovely little election advent calendar with Ed Daveys face in it
I bet they feel the momentum (no pun intended) over the next month will get them there. But I take the point that the London boroughs are weird contests - it truly feels like Labour are willingly taking them for granted, which might make them significant battlegrounds in future elections. If we get a proper discussion on PR it will emerge from these places.

The Lib Dem thing is a treat, their base point is so low they can basically play silly buggers and still have seats in the South West served up on a plate.

I hate looking at individual poll results rather than an average of many, but this latest, based on 10,000 surveyed, and commissioned by GB News & The Daily Male :basil: is outstanding.

In summary, Tories projected around 70 seats. Even on other polls too, these are predictions that 1997 Tony Blair would be jealous of.

Even the individual questions are incredible. 46% of TORY voters think they are financially worse off in the last year, compared to 16% better off. And those same Tory voters, 55% think they get bad value for money from the government.

Even those still voting conservative are doing so for no fucking reason other than they don't know how to do anything else.

Death to the Conservatives please. Let them go the way of the Whigs and the Liberal Party.

Eighteen Conservative Cabinet Members are likely to lose their seats.

  • Oliver Dowden, James Cleverly, Grant Shapps, Penny Mordaunt, Kemi Badenoch, Claire Coutinho, Mel Stride, Gillian Keegan, Mark Harper, David Davies, Victoria Prentis, Esther McVey, Andrew Mitchell, Johnny Mercer (all to Labour)
  • Alex Chalk, Michael Tomlinson (both to Lib Dem)
  • Alister Jack (to SNP); Simon Hart (to Plaid Cyrmu)
A million portillo moments.

It'll be glorious if we get to see the back of Badenoch, McVey and Mercer in one night :disco:

Jilly is DEFINITELY voting Tory traditional values

Meanwhile the evil Hannah publicly tells everyone she's Lib Dem, whilst privately trying to sell consultancy services to Tory HQ

Jill definitely wants to BRING BACK HANGING*.

The worst thing about the election so far is my twitter 'for you' page being filled with AGGRESSIVE CENTRISM

VILE.

Yes I know that by sharing it I've just taught the algorithm to show me more, thank you

Vote fucking Reform if it means getting the Tories out.

I honestly think my politics is "not the Tories".

Most of those people are not centrists by any sane definition of the term.

Apart from Clement Attlee. Notable for his fence sitting on private health and student fees.
Oh, yeah, proper red Tory, Attlee. You could only tell the difference between him and Churchill by the colour of the rosette.

I'm interested to see what happens to my local constituency this time. It's safe as houses for Labour of course, but in the last two elections the Conservatives came second. Prior to that second place generally flipped between Conservatives and Lib Dems, but it being a studenty area the latter also collapsed badly after that. Greens never higher than fourth, but they've started doing well in our council elections, winning one and narrowly losing the other two most recent ones by margins in the low hundreds.

However, our boundaries have changed to cut out some of the most studenty areas and pick up some much more middle class/suburban ones, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Lib Dems had a bit of a bounceback at the Green party's expense.

Who supports legalising weed? I presume Green along with Lib Dems.

Labour really need to get on that. I doubt it would lose them votes + the tax.

After the boundary reshuffle, I would now be in Michelle Donelan's constituency, but I see they've moved her over to a safer seat :( which I guess tacitly means accepting they've lost here

Badenoch truly one of the worst. I'll laugh for a week if she loses her seat.

Same. She's an arrogant bigoted troll and I'd love to see her unseated.

Not that it'll make any real different because we'll have Streeting and Duffield but her attitude and conduct around the Ghey family has been beyond hideous.
