Listening to the radio this morning, the thing people seem to be picking up as dubious from Starmer's response was about not using private healthcare. I can see why he said it in principle, but the way the question was framed ("If you had loved ones on a long waiting list for surgery and you felt using private healthcare was the only way forward, would you use it?") probably made his response seem a bit disingenuous.

It's a disingenuous question. How often have you seen GoFundMes for people who need surgery because the waiting lists have become so ridiculously long under the Tories? I've paid into a few, does that make me a traitor to the NHS? The questions people are really asking about private healthcare aren't addressed by that framing and Starmer's determination to avoid a gotcha has made him look cold. But we knew he was cold and we already know that Sunak would harvest your fucking organs to save anyone in his family.

I found myself more ambivalent last night too, probably because this election seems so much more of a foregone conclusion than 2010, and these two are much less panto than Johnson Vs Corbyn (although they were both more animated last night than i think I've ever seen!)

(Plus I was knackered x)

That doesn't matter to the Tories, though. The number is out there now, and it will probably be enough to cut through to people who take politics at face value, however much they're challenged on it.

It's a shame none of the broadcasters has had the sense to install a fact-checker in the studio. They don't necessarily need to scrutinise every statement word-for-word, but where figures are being chucked around, it would make sense to have someone able to support and feed corrections or clarifications to the presenter. I mean, if it's good enough for shows like Countdown and Pointless, you'd think the small matter of a General Election might warrant a similar approach :D

I think (well hope) that the £350m Brexit Bus lie still looms large in the minds of the public. And that people associate it more with the Tories due to them overseeing it.

Or at the very least, the only people who buy such shit would be voting Tory anyway.

She's standing as an independent. I imagine it might result in IDS getting in but that is entirely Labour's fault. I'd vote for her if I was in that seat, both because she deserves the support and Labour need the consequences of their own actions.

I’d vote for Faiza. Unless there’s more to the story I don’t like the way she was booted out.
