Some alleged entries in their national selection, to be held on 14 February.

The return of last year's ROBBED QUEEN WITCH, Justyna :disco:

Sara James, who was previously at JESC in 2021 and is being talked up as the hot favourite/ringer.

The obligatory sensitive young man with boring ballad

These tuneful ditties

I’m just here for when the Polish fans get mad because some crap (that they all mistakenly think will win the whole thing) gets beaten by the ringer.

We have an all-new and MUCH EXCITING double-bill with whatever this is and Sanremo being the same night.

The line-up will also consist of Dominik Dudek (NF 2023), Kuba Szmajkowski (NF 2022, 2023,) Marien, Sonia Maselik and Daria Marx (NF 2022). Their songs will be released later.

Last time Poland had a National Final in 2023, it had interval acts every two or three acts if I remember correctly. :hostage:

So many thrilling new national finals! This, Greece, and of course the much loved MONGESONG. Am I forgetting any more?

Armenia are also bringing back their national final, which always has a few treats of questionable level :disco:

(Gutted that the live performance seems to have been wiped from the internet :( )

The recap of that NF is still online though (no. 5 through 7 :D ) :disco:

32:09 for her struggling to read the Armenian language from her cue cards :D

Another great moment at 1:02:30, where the interval act is wearing a t-shirt emblazoned EVA RIVAS :basil:

They just don't make NFs like this anymore :(

What a time to be alive! I also found the bizarre press conference the second placers did where they put a lot of stock on Ricky Martin apparently endorsing them :D

Sara James has withdrawn from the National Final and been replaced by Janusz Radcek.

The updated line-up:

Kuba Szmajkowski – Pray
MARIEN – Can't Hide
Justyna Steczkowska – GAJA
DARIA MARX – Let It Burn
CHRUST – TEMPO
Dominik Dudek – Hold the Light
TYNSKY – Miracle
Sonia Maselik – Rumours
Sw@da x Niczos – Lusterka
Janusz Radek – In Cosmic Mist

Along with the songs in the first post, these songs also have been released so far:

Only the songs of Janusz Radek and Daria remaining to be released now.

I thought this was strange seeing as she was likely the winner. Her statement says:

but listening to both I think that Tiny Heart is far better than Psycho for a competition like this? I wonder if they were spooked by Psycho having so many views and Tiny Heart having considerably fewer.

Strange also because Tiny Heart even has its own separate INTRO on the album. Anyway, @LindaBentzing this is what quality control looks like - do NOT start down this path for gods sake.

CHRUST – TEMPO
I don’t why this entry has irritated me so much :D

From the minute-long end credits :manson: to the disrespectful mimicking of Rachel Stevens’ seminal debut solo work, this is one of the most pretentious entries I’ve come across. I think it’s really important for us all to not stray into the field of ostentatiousness in our day to day lives - particularly when it comes to art and music - and am instantly reminded of Sylvia Plath’s poem Mirror as I contemplate this:

I am a lake. A woman bends over me,
Searching my reaches for what she really is.
Then she turns to those liars, the candles or the moon.
I see her back, and reflect it faithfully
.

:D There's definitely an air of pretentious classist wannabe "I'm different cause I'm edgy" University music student energy to it all imo.

"Lusterka" is in Belarusian which would be interesting.
It's not in Belarussian. It's in a dialect that's used by around 30.000 people in Poland. There are some Belarussian or Ukrainian elements but technically it's Podlashian (as the name of the region suggests - Podlasie)

Justyna's leading the initial fan polling. Would love her to get some justice after last year, but Gaja could really do with a remix. It has some interesting elements, but it isn't half as impactful as Witcher.

It's not the national final version we've heard. She's adding a bridge and a chorus in English apparently.

I do think it would be quite FABULOUS for an artist to be coming back to the contest 30 years after their debut.

I'm not sure crowbarring in some English is the change that what I'm asking for, but good for her if she's being strategic. She obviously really wants this, and presumably has more resources than most of the artists to deliver on her vision.

Apparently she's not sure about the English chorus. But a bridge will be added and possibly a dancebreak. She really wants to go all in on that one. It's her last chance.

I think whether it’s in English or not, it’s pretty lacking in the chorus department currently so hopefully that’s rectified.

Not sure what it needed was a load of instrumental padding added to be honest.

I've decided I'm ALL IN on Gaja :disco: The last minute and a half are FABULOUS

I appreciate the little reference to Witcher Tarohoro she's added in there, although Witcher autoplayed after this last night and kind of emphasised the gulf in quality between the two. :(

For absolutely no apparent reason, they've added in a 11th entry wildcard :D

Anyway, it's just a sadboi ballad from some guy from Norway. :eyes:

Is this national final season seeming more chaotic than usual or do I just have a short memory?

If that wins there’ll be uproar surely.
