TV Ratings 2025

Good figures for Unforgotten too. They released it all at once so I believe it will fall now?
No, those views in advance are still recorded and 'carried forward' to the chart BARB publishes, but not the one on Thinkbox. Which although somewhat confusing, is quite interesting as it allows you to see exactly how many watch like that.

I see The Snu is reporting Dr Who is getting axed due to abysmal ratings. I didn’t think it was doing THAT bad?

BGT came back with 4.6 million viewers in the overnights. That seems quite low? It doesn’t seem like a year since it was on.

It has returned earlier this year. Last year it was April 20th to June 2nd.

Am I right in thinking they are going to do weekly shows once it gets to the semis rather than every night?

It's come earlier (and is going weekly for the finals, rather than being across 6 or 7 nights) because there's no Saturday Night Takeaway this year. And no new hits for ITV light entertainment (outside of The 1% Club) to plug the gap with.

No idea. I hadn't even heard of it before posting the chart.

I’m not really sure what it’s about. I think it’s a drama so will probably give it a whirl.

@FetchFugly to confirm.

I've been watching at broadcast pace. It's pretty good. The crime side of things is quite flashy in a sub-Luther way, but the lead is good and there's a decent amount of time devoted to his personal life - he is estranged from his family due to marrying out of religion and in typically complicated fashion has a brother in law who heads one of Bradford's criminal gangs.

I think I will give it a shot. Thankyou my love.

I hadn't forgotten this week - BARB just didn't update until some point today. I'll post the chart later.

This series of Gladiators is holding up better than the first (not unsurprisingly considering how well that opened) in terms of decrease over the series, but the episode in the chart this week is the lowest since the reboot. If it dips below 4m, I think the BBC may start having questions about it, surely.

And for those hoping for an increase in the figures as the final approaches, last year the two semi finals got the lowest figures of the series, with the final the next lowest.

Some more Amandaland stats from the BBC

The hit BBC comedy Amandaland, starring Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne, is officially returning to iPlayer and BBC One after a standout debut.

Since launching, Amandaland has averaged 6.4 million viewers to date, making it the BBC’s second biggest comedy launch in recent years (excluding specials), behind Ludwig (9.5 million) and on par with The Outlaws (6.4 millions), according to the latest data.

The series has also been a hit with younger audiences, drawing 0.9 million 16-34s, the biggest BBC comedy audience in this demographic since The Cleaner in 2021.

2023 3.929m
2024 3.387m
2025 2.982m*

The figure for 2025 is to date, and also assumes the best figure it could possibly be for the two weeks it hasn't been in the top 50 shows. So the actual average will be probably only slightly lower.

The Apprentice still standing up in the top 5 week on week is wild after all these years.

I don’t seek out The Apprentice any more, and wouldn’t catch up if I miss it but do still quite enjoy it even though it’s just the same thing over and over every year.

Worth pointing out for The Apprentice that despite the drop over the last few years, in relative terms (i.e. in terms of its position in the weekly chart) it's very much still keeping pace with where it has been since 2012. Very much unlike Dancing On Ice.

The highest rated individual episode of The Apprentice is the final in 2011(Tom Pellerau), with 10.24m.

Very much unlike Dancing On Ice.

That’s a really strong hold for the apprentice, surprised! It must be pretty good at consistently picking up new viewers as I can’t believe there is such low drop off from who was watching nearly 20 years ago

In the past 3-4 years The Apprentice and BGT seem to have fell on a similar trajectory. Around 500k per year.

When I can face it, I may do a similar average year by year for BGT. I guess the main difference there, is that when BGT was big, it was a LOT bigger. So it feels more of a shadow of its former self to me than The Apprentice.

One million percent but they have probably been of similar averages for the past 3-4 years so they also seem to have relatively stopped the rot kicking in. I thought it was a big drop until you posted The Apprentice stats year on year,

Actually someone has already done it on Wikipedia for BGT. Sorry, the formatting is off, but that's the average in the right hand column.
