The compare and contrast between Starmer/Macron meetings and THAT goes to show just what little respect the US administration has for Ukraine. They couldn’t care less.
 
I just put the entire thing on and only managed about 5 minutes because it was making my blood boil. Zelenskyy is treated like a child who needs to be quiet and told how things really are.

It’s so frustrating that Zelensky will inevitably get blamed for not being sufficiently obsequious to that bloated toad.
 
Surely most of us are able to read between the lines on how that came across and came out the way it did.

And by most I do of course mean everyone except Russia and approximately 40% of American adults.
 
The question I have is, after bending over and presenting his pre-lubricated arsehole (and the arsehole of the King) yesterday, will Starmer condemn Trump's behaviour or turn a blind eye.

Well there's not exactly much he can do either way that's useful on that front, given we're going to have to shoulder the burden on what comes next some way or another, and shouldering it will be all the harder if we get subjected to tariffs.

As a bare minimum he should signal that the state visit can and will be cancelled if he continues to be the monumental cunt that he's just been (and I think it was a bad idea to offer it so quickly in the first place, and should have been dangled until after he had at least improved his position on Ukraine)

Also some BASIC FUCKING DECENCY would be nice from our leader as well but I am not for a second expecting it.
 
The state visit will probably backfire on Trump anyway. There’s bound to be mass protests.
 
The CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent Caitlan Collins says that it was Trump’s decision to conclude the talks after the exchanges in the Oval Office.

In a social media post, she said “Trump decided that Zelensky was ‘not in a place to negotiate’” and “directed Secretary Rubio and his national security adviser Mike Waltz to deliver the message: it was time for Zelensky to leave.”

Drawing on further briefing from the White House, she said “the Ukrainians wanted to continue the talks. But they were told no.”

Reeling Zelensky in with “we’re gonna make a deal. It’s gonna be great for everyone” then boom do a 180 on him infront of the cameras. Accuse Ukraine of starting the war and then get your lines in.

“You’re being disrespectful to the US people”

Can imagine similar lines being hoofed around in Big Brother

In the pub last night, probably the most right wing person I know was disgusted at this, and he’s even been pro- Trump before. I found that interesting…Putin is clearly “the line”.

I thought this comment on reddit really summed up that there was never a good deal to take



So in summary, Trump wanted President Zelensky to sign a ceasefire with an actively hostile aggressor who currently occupies Ukrainian territory and has been actively killing civilians. The USA in return gets $500 billion worth of minerals and Ukraine gets Trump's word that Putin wouldn't attack but if Putin does attack USA will do nothing. Even though there have been 25 instances in recent history where Russia has not honoured their agreement.

The White House claimed they were begging after to sign the deal but Zelensky said beforehand that he wasn’t going to sign a deal without security guarantees becasue, as above, what’s the fucking point? Here’s $500bn for Trumps word?
