Malta 2025: Miriana Conte - SERVING (1 Viewer)

Hilarious if that's the case, but I'd imagine too late to make any difference to the absolute lunatics who have been devoting their lives to losing their shit over this in the last 48 hours.

I've seen some measured discussion but some forums like escforum.net are utterly unhinged.

I've seen stuff along the lines of the BBC just 'being jealous of the former colonies for sending a seriously competitive song which has a huge chance of winning'

They do realise that if the BBC wanted to submit a song like this they could just deploy Baga Chips?

There's a large chance they don't consume any media that isn't Eurovision, so PROBABLY NOT :disco:

And quelle surprise Tim Montgomery is a Eurovision-hater

It's all getting a bit TIRING now, isn't it?

'All I want to do is sing in my language...' *wink wink*

Yeah, ok love, you mean the ONE Maltese word in the entire song which also happen rhymes with cunt - teehee, how clever.

Jog on

It may be tiresome to us* because we're hardcore Eurovision fans who have been following this for weeks already.

The point is she's getting it in front of the general public before the contest, ensuring she goes in as one of the most discussed contestants and creating anticipation for her performance. It's absolutely what she should be doing, and she's doing it incredibly well.

*not me, I'm loving every second of this

Is there any evidence other than rumour that this was RTE? I have seen comments that the BBC denied it was them in a statement but I can't find that anywhere.

I’d imagine Newsnight has the correct info so the official line is they haven’t commented.

The thing is even if it was one particular broadcaster who raised it, that’s not to say another wouldn’t have done, or that any even needed to.

Whichever broadcaster complained first, I’d hope the EBU would have the wisdom to ask the views of the other English language broadcasters before responding.

I didn't see the newsnight piece.

You would have hoped the EBU would have handled this with kid gloves after the Joost Klein debacle last year.

I think I thought it was bigger than it was when I read that the BBC had released a press statement denying it was them. I can't believe that people just make this stuff up. Actually, I can.
