So today was my day.

Sat there bemused as it started and gays started crying. I mean, it was amazing, but actual tears? At a video screen?

Then Lay All Your Love On Me came on as the overture to the GREATEST FIFTEEN MINUTES OF MY ENTIRE LIFE, and, all at once, and without any warning, I became a snotty, ridiculous, wailing mess.

I guess the disco bit really was aimed squarely at me.

Oh it’s just SO GOOD. Enjoyed it more the second time around, and it was definitely a better crowd. That disco section is just something else.

A couple of little details I picked up on having watched a second time...

The band is SO good. The first time I kind of thought we were mostly hearing the original tracks with a few flourishes from the band. Maybe I noticed more on repeat viewing, or perhaps I was standing in a better position to hear, but I was completely wrong and it is pretty much all live with the exception of Agnetha and Frida's vocals, strings, and little recognisable bits from the originals like the Fernando panpipes. They've done an incredible job at recreating the originals but just giving them that bit of extra punch that makes it feel exciting and live.

Also I liked the alternative vocal takes they used occasionally to switch things up. I picked up some live vocals on Summer Night City, the extra deleted verse on When All Is Said And Done, but my favourite little touch was on Dancing Queen, where the final "diggin the dancing queeeen" isn't faded out like the studio version and the note is basically held on for as long as they can until Agnetha's voice cracks. :disco:

I'm sure there'll be more things I pick up when I go the 3rd and 4th times. :D
 
I recommended the Haugen restaurant at Stratford earlier in this thread, and a couple of other people also recommended it. They have now launched a cash in menu. Don't think we'll have time when we go in a couple of weeks, but if they still have it when we do Voyage #3 in October I may be tempted. Infinitely preferable (and considerably cheaper) than the Departure Lounge.

Haugen was nice! The Abba tie-in menu was pre-book only even though it doesn't actually say that anywhere, but if you flutter your eyelashes they'll let you take a look anyway. Then spit in your food when you order from the main menu anyway.

(May or may not be speaking from experience)

The food menu looks pretty good value. But the cocktails look pretty shit for that price.

Paid £150 for both but would accept £120

Ticketmaster is not allowing resell but it is allowing me to transfer the tickets.

There is no way I’ll be able to attend this concert due to health reasons so I just want to sell the tickets. I’m gutted but needs must 😰😰

Pretty much every show has sold out and it’s still just a handful of resale tickets for the next couple of months. I don’t think there’s any risk of it closing in the next couple of years.

Our second visit this afternoon. We were literally right at the front against the barrier, not by design but accident as the entrance we used took you straight to the front on the same side as the band. Realising we'd have the band right in front of us, we moved to the other side.

The circular screens which drop were therefore slightly behind us, and the 'front' screen, when it drops, too close to see without craning your neck - and then it wasn't possible to get a look at the whole thing. Standing further back you wouldn't have this problem, but the throng was much busier and more tightly packed there.

It possibly feels more like a gig on the dancefloor, but more of a SHOW from a seat, I'd say.

I certainly don't regret that we've got a third visit booked for the start of October. And we're thinking about booking another at some point over Christmas/New Year.

I think I'll go again around Christmas. It will be interesting to see if the audience are as enthusiastic as the first time by then.
 
I'm waiting to see if she posts anything on her socials before I am 100% convinced, but I'm quite sure Naked Attraction's Anna Richardson was in the queue in front of us.

Sadie Frost and Nigella both visited at the weekend :disco:

I think I have deduced that the best place to watch the show is on the dancefloor, but towards the back, so you get the most out of the production but also the atmosphere.

Yes, we're dancefloor again in October and that's where I'll be heading.

I think when we book #4 I'm going to try for Block A.
 
I’m headed next Sunday. My friend that I’m going with has potentially had their flight back to Australia brought forward so may end up missing the bloody thing :(

I saw this last weekend and LOVED IT, though was initially underwhelmed by the ABBA-tars themselves, if anybody else had that? I think in my head based on the reaction and show footage I was expecting some jaw dropping tech where they were able to move freely about the stage. And not just, y'know, stuck on a screen at the very back, looking a bit flat, with loads of dead stage space in front of them.

Everything else about the night and the staging was fucking wonderful though, and I intend to go back with dancefloor tickets next time. We were sat at the front on the far side near the band, and I expect the ABBAtars look better from the centre?

My absolute highlight was Lay All Your Love On Me. Just heaven. When All Is Said And Done was also right up there for me. The whole show really did just hammer home for me how they're the single greatest band of all time though, not that I had any doubt. And also that I now fancy young Benny? I didn't see that coming.

Is there any evidence to suggest that in typical fan-fleecing style they recorded more songs, to add in and refresh the set list at a later point? If they pop in Super Trouper (an OUTRAGEOUS OMISSION) I'd be back in a heartbeat.

I'm fairly sure I've read that more songs have been recorded, but not sure which ones. @Pingu, have you read that as well? I don't think it's just fanwankery.

It sounds like the first time I went, I was sat in a similar position to you but on the opposite side, @Finn. The second time stood at the very front. I'm not sure the Abbatars necessarily looked any better from the front, but that 'dead stage' you refer to is less obvious, probably because you're looking across it, rather than down on to it as well, and because you're more immersed in the lights and screens than you are in the seats. I imagine if you're further back in the dancefloor, that dead space might be even be less of an issue, because with a crowd in front of you, it will more hidden than being right at the barrier like I was last time.

Yes they have definitely recorded more songs than were in the show, and they have all their movement “data” for more beyond that as well. I definitely read one of the producers saying that they intend to switch songs out and refresh parts of the show if it keeps running.
 
Also really sorry to hear that your initial reaction was underwhelming @Finn - I have pretty much been bang in the centre every time I’ve seen it and they look mind-blowingly real from there. I have wondered what the experience is like looking on from an angle, but I’m glad the show is good enough to compensate for any feeling of looking at a screen.
 
Anyone on the off chance fancy going to this on Saturday? My friend is trying to sell three dancefloor tickets which I think she’d probably take a little below face value for.
 
I am finally planning to book for December, and was wondering if anyone has stayed at one of the hotels being proposed in the packages ? We'd just come over for the night so it seems easier to just stay in the area.. also, I haven't been to London since Brexit happened, are there going to be huge queues at the Eurostar Terminal? HAs anyone been over from (or to) Paris recently?
