I feel like that's the red thread weaving its way through the success stories of women in pop this summer. Sabrina Carpenter going pedal to the metal with smart, coquettish beach-princess vibes, Charli diving even deeper into the party girl profile with all its insecurities and flaws and Chappell serving dramatic QUEER AWAKENING (no doubt influenced by MONARCH Bambie Thug).

It's very reminiscent of early Gaga and early Lana when they swung big with persona-driven pop and then went in even harder with Fame Monster and Paradise respectively - and they just DIDN'T MISS :disco:
 
In case you couldn't tell, I'm really excited by the state of pop music in 2024, it really does feel like a year for the AGES :disco:
 
Up on the sales-only chart too, which, inevitably tends to favour physical sales of newer releases so she's holding WELL.

I can't say I'm surprised - spotify seems to foist it onto me on autoplay if I've listened to anything vaguely current before it.
