Corrie 2025

Corrie is still beating EastEnders pretty comfortably every week other than at Christmas. Since EastEnders turned a corner in 2023 and closed the gap a fair amount that year, they have both largely stayed fairly level, I think.

It'll be interesting to see what (if any) difference them not being against each other makes. Theoretically both shows could benefit.

It’s usually Emmerdale that is scheduled against Eastenders in the UK I think so I don’t think Corries viewing figures will grow.

That makes it more interesting from a competition perspective then - it could really level things out between those three.

Saying that Eastenders isn’t exactly on TOP FORM either but Coronation Street has been going downhill FAST for around 10 years and I struggle to see how they will ever stop the rot.

The problem seems to be that the audience drop seems fo have levelled out. So I don't see what incentive there is to make it better.

It's interesting that almost everything I've seen about it recently on social media in the last few weeks regarding axed characters, the size of the cast and storylines has been overwhelmingly negative. I'm intrigued to see if that filters through in terms of viewing figures. I suspect it won't make much difference after all. The audience it has left watch it just because it's on rather than massively engaging with it.

For sure. I am one of those people that if I am at home it will be on the tv more as background noise than anything else. Last nights episode did grab my attention for the first time in a while with the house fire at The Platts.

And the only tweet I've seen about that is this one :D

Why’d you have to open your big GOB?

I can say the same thing about YOUR LEGS!

Do they have new scriptwriters as Tracey has been on FIRE for the past few days. Very Blanche esque.

Last time I watched this properly, David Platt and Chesney were kids

Now they're what, I think I more or less grew up with them so 40s? Yet they still somehow look about 12 but with a bit more facial hair and chub respectively (and respectfully) :manson:

Ches looks like he could still pass off as the Hovis kid

Could do with access to this fountain of youth as mine is wearing off!!

No they aren’t in their 40’s. David is 34 and Chesney 30 so don’t be too hard on yourself my love.

This storyline with Rob and Carla is a new low for Corrie. Whoever wrote Monday's episode, when he escaped from the hospital and they took Carla hostage, needs sacking!

Carla is a fantastic character but she is so diluted now (like the majority of the cast) it is hard to really care about her now. This lesbian era is not it.

Carla has been going downhill for around 10 years now but that's down to Corrie and NOT Alison King who is a smashing actress when she gets top storylines (She was at her best with the Liam/Tony story but those days are long gone). I hate this lesbian shite with Lisa and Lisa should not be a permanent character. The police stuff in this show is ridiculous

Sally Carman is also brilliant but my god how much more can Abi take? They don't half pour some misery on her. We have her PTSD, Kevin's cancer, and soon Debbie's dementia! All a bit much

Rather a MEH return

I assume they see her as some kind of replacement for the departing (but much better) Daisy

I didn't mind Eva too much.

I've never got the appeal of Daisy though. She's so miserable - I don't think I've seen her smile once.

What was that absolute SHITE with Rob Tracy and Carla the other night. And the angel delight thing?! It's just taking the piss now

Jenny is a disgrace, she just doesn't give a shit

I'm quite enjoying Julie though

So ready for JENNY'S DOWNFALL

Poor Dee Dee!

It seems Debbie's dementia story is starting and I think it will be a tough watch

I liked the scenes with Kevin and Julie

Debbie is a FANTASTIC actress. I really don’t know what they are playing at by getting rid of her?
