The original is one of my all time favorite nostalgic comfort movies, it does not deserve a remake :(

A remake of Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead has been set with a sprawling ensemble cast, and it is coming to theaters this Spring.

The film will be in theaters on April 12 before landing on the streamer at a later date.

+Simone Joy Jones leads the film in the iconic Christina Applegate role, alongside an ensemble cast including Nicole Richie, June Squibb, Donielle Tremaine Hansley, Jermaine Fowler and Ms. Pat.

It has to be an April Fool's joke, right? :eyes:

The original has Sarah Buxton, Christina Applegate and Joanna "I'm right on top of that Rose" Cassidy. The remake has not been set with anything that could be called a sprawling ensemble cast.

Nicole Richie? Really?

How does this really work? The mum goes away and can’t contact the babysitter because… landlines.
Ding ding ding. A lot of what made the original work was because of the era it was set in.

What's next to be remade? Mallrats?

This looks like it just came and went bu I finally watched it last night and I don't feel it was that bad in an obviously "made-for-TV movie" kind of way; a nice update and a huge contrast on how things were in the mid 90's as opposed to how they are now. Loved the unexpected cameos as a treat for fans of the original movie.

Can a Mod please add a poll? Just in case anyone else watches it, which I doubt :D I give it a 7, there was no need for a remake but it was hard to fumble with the source material being so good and a cult classic.

Can you confirm who the cameos are please?

Is this not available in the UK yet? I can’t see it anywhere. The Weird Al Daniel Radcliffe film has also only JUST dropped on Prime over here with no publicity at all. Makes no sense.

It's on BET in the US, I had no idea they've got a streaming platform now! anyway, I watched it on

Watching this now and they’re actually covering all of the modern updates really well, some fun homages to the original too. Remains a bit of a dark comedic tone and likeable cast.
