Drag Race Down Under Season 4 - RuPaul OUT

Aside from a passable Gina Riley and Jane Turner I thought it was pretty poor TBH.

Annoyed that Michelle did a Ru and talked one of the queens out of a promising choice in Erika Giradi in favour of a non-starter like 'Mrs Claus'.

I also didn't understand Lazy Susan's interpretation of Lindsay Lohan at all. She should have stuck with Werner Herzog.
 
I wasn't overwhelmed, either. And I don't particularly enjoy how so many queens are coming with abstract characters now.
 
I agree re abstract and fictional characters. It feels like a cop out.

When I said characters and storytelling are stronger I meant the season generally compared to previous ones. The snatch game was just fine but that can be saved by a good episode otherwise.

I feel like sometimes people get too caught up on the quality of performances in the challenges themselves.
 
Is that the earliest a Snatch Game winner has gone home?

I thought everybody did well, and Brenda's look was fairly basic compared to some of the others, but it's still a shame to lose a strong competitor, and I hate the way the 'Family resemblance' challenge is judged so arbitrarily depending on who the judges want to stay or go.

Anita Wigl'it went home on episode 4 after winning Snatch Game.

Hang on, I've just had a thought. They say the prize is $50,000, but is that Australian dollars or New Zealand dollars?
 
Catching up. Brenda has just left, and I know DRDU is slept on but what a STRONG cast this is setting up to be. The best design challenge (although it was a bit swept over that Mandy essentially had a hand in all of the looks right?), followed by one of the best family resemblance tasks of all time. Both weeks it was very difficult to call who would be in the bottom. There just aren't any weak links left now.

The production feels it's stepped up a notch as well. It's nowhere near as "messy" at the first two seasons.

Confirmed after that DADDY PIG routine 🐷

This was the first DRDU season I watched to completion since the first one, I think. The right queen won despite kind of flubbing the final lip sync, and it was a very solid top 3. If they bring it back I hope they just fix those few annoying production issues and Michelle finds her own voice a little bit more.
 
Think I've made it through 3 episodes. Snatch round 2 was decent with Gina Riley. Loved the visor runway gimmick. The panel is severely lacking - it's almost as if there aren't a gaggle of Housewives who would make the entire thing essential viewing. Given the Down Under is arguably the show screeching to a halt somehow stretched into another full season, this is the one that has the best chance at shaking things up at this point considering Ru isn't even bothering to host whilst on va-ca visiting the in-laws. Or get that crazy old contestant who did that weird lip-sync.. can't believe I've forgotten their name given how fantastically excruciating their entire stint was.
 
I actually enjoyed the season a lot and I enjoyed Michelle. Yes, she cloned a lot of Ru's sayings etc. but we don't even know if this is a full time takeover. I think she did just fine all things considered.
 
It was, for me, by far the best season of Down Under mainly due to a fantastic cast. Lazy Susan was a great winner.

Do we know if it’s been renewed for another season?

Only rumblings but talk is of DRDU All Stars next year instead of a regular season.

Which could be fun if they give it the care they gave this year's show.

Redemption for Art Simone.
