Post an amazing Kylie live PERF

Infinite Disco is just superb and I hope she can incorporate a little of that into the Tension shows

REAL GROOVE is a Kylie classic single if you ask me, just so underrated and didn't get the exposure it deserves

The way people are seemingly turning on Disco gets on my nerves. Yes it has its failings but it also has a handful of absolutely TOP NOTCH songs.

Disco is a little masterpiece, I didn't know peeps were turning on it?!

I listened to Disco in its entirety last week and was left feeling slightly underwhelmed as a whole.

But I think that's due to my listening (and even more so watching) Infinite Disco a hell of a lot more. And that is a towering moment of pop majesty that the original album is going to struggle to be compared to.

And I kind of see what Sheena is referring to regarding cold production (on some of the tracks, at least), but of course live, that's one thing that could never be levelled at her.

Infinite Disco > Disco ABSOLUTELY

Disco is probably the Kylie album I've played the least at the time since the debut. I cannot have played it through in its entirety more than 5 times to be honest.

What IS interesting, though, is if something crops up somewhere, I do know pretty much every word.

Say Something
Miss A Thing
Real Groove
Magic
Dancefloor Darling
I Love It
Till You Love Somebody

are ALL fantastic songs in my opinion. I MUCH prefer this album to Aphrodite for instance.

But equally I'm glad that Sky Adams doesn't have much input on Tension. He seems very limited as a producer.

Same - and yes I know I always shade 'Golden' but I played it tonnes more than 'Disco' in retrospect.
I don't know why it just didn't click with me - apart from what Sheena has mentioned, I just also found it weirdly cold and calculated but in a somewhat (don't come for me Mopsy) reductive way.
'Say Something' was just as misleading a leading single as '2 Hearts' was - but for entirely different reasons!

I think another part of the problem for me is the disco tag…because so much of it actually isn’t disco at all.

She should have included the title track on it (in place of Monday Blues, ideally). That would have silenced that particular criticism.

Not really for me. Even the “disco” stuff is just pop dance for me. It isn’t really DISCO DISCO. Which is precisely what I wanted.

Well I meant that she could just say it was named after a song on the album...as opposed to any particular theme. I happen to love it too, despite the obvious sample.

Unfortunately I can't find the video that @Christian used to SPAM the site with but you get the gist, even if it is of POTATO quality:

Genuinely one of the most thrilling moments in human history, I wish I'd seen it in the flesh. That elbow thing is surely responsible for thousands of gay comas :disco:

I wish we had got that on the X Tour. I love it but the Speakerphone performance was a bit LIMP on it in comparison.

I do love the X tour version as well (not least for the whole get-up being a very direct Doctor Who reference - as discussed on a popular podcast earlier this year :eyes:), but in an ideal world we'd have BOTH - with one performance being adapted for a different song maybe?

I thought she was meant to be channelling the Borg queen?

Well there was probably a bit of that too :disco: 'Woman hooked up to machines' is quite a standard sci-fi trope, but that look was a (sexed-up) reference to this lady from the Chris Eccleston series:

(I can't find a good pic but the wires are hooked up to a big circular frame like Kylie had)

They also had the time vortex effect from that era in the background during the performance :disco:

Disco is a weird one - as a collection there are too many fillers and actively shit songs for it to be better than OK, but the singles and Miss a Thing are FABULOUS and Celebrate You/Till You Love Somebody hit the spot too. basically, like Aphrodite and Kiss Me Once, it would make a great EP.

I never need to hear Monday Blues, Supernova etc again. so NOISY! Sky Adams is a shit producer.

and yes Infinite Disco and Steve Anderson really saved it. those extended/punchier arrangements are superior in every respect and with her vocals being so strong, with no audience noise either, you can just pretend they're studio versions.

Oh they ARE the studio versions as far as I'm concerned - or at least they replace them.

And the Say Something perf you opened this very thread with has completely rendered the video utterly irrelevant.

underrated album track from Aphrodite and this arrangement is stun. she's very vocally at home in her higher register on songs like this

I can just about tolerate the live version of that because I can't stand the original.

AMAZING is probably not the right word for this hot mess. WTF was going on with her during the Kiss Me Once era? :D

The KMO tour is actually great. I don't understand the criticism of this - she embraced the camp in her earlier PWL hits and only during one segment of the show.

Although the laboured applause by the crowd at the front is quite something. :D

Fair enough! I didn’t see it and that clip clearly doesn’t do it justice. The backing dancers(?) just standing there looking uncomfortable in those awful wigs and the bizarre backing animation just looked the wrong side of tacky out of context.
