RPDR CAN S01E10: U Wear it Well (finale)

The whole thing was so good!

Winner was absolutely deserved off the back of this episode alone never mind the whole season.

Ihad a brief moment during the finale lip sync where I thought Bobo might actually snatch it

I haven’t been a fan of Priyanka, but her win was justified by this episode. She was the best.

Rita, my favourite, was sadly third best based on challenge.

Don't read if you haven't watched.

Oh thank god. I just watched the announcement. She absolutely won the challenge and her speech articulated something key about her and that's her relationship with the audience. When Bobo started unleashing the generic lip sync stunts I started to get very worried. Baga just didn't look good on the runway - better hair could have salvaged it a little.

:D at Jimbo's runway antics and attitude. And also at the equator stretching difference in quality from the runner ups.

Bobo won that lip sync, but Priyanka was the right winner for me- Rita lost it in the past three episodes. Really pleased too, she was my favourite as a person in and out of drag.

Rita was my choice too but the final challenge just didn't suit her.

Loved Bobo's lip sync and was actually veering in favour of her for a moment, but Priyanka is super and I'm glad she took it.

What a surprisingly great season, especially considering how ropey it all looked around about episode two.

I'm so happy for Bobo and Rita that they DIDN'T win. They hate they would have gotten for beating fan fave Priyanka would have been awful.

Anyway, the correct winner. She will be an UTTER JOY to be wheeled out should they do future seasons.
A great way to underline that a drag queen having CHARISMA is so so so so important, especially if turning LEWKS isn't your specialty (see also: Adore, Jujubee, Vanjie...)

Considering that the cast looked like a giant sack of spuds on the first few episodes, I've really enjoyed this season. The top 5 were all individually brilliant, and I'd love to see them all compete again with a bigger budget on an All Stars season.
Lemon and Bobo in particular have SO MUCH untapped potential that is clearly hindered somewhat by lack of funds.

Priyanka needs to improve a lot more than her looks. Her posture is terrible and her lip sync style is very one note.

Like I said, her win was justified in this episode, but overall I think she’s the weakest Drag Race winner.

I was spoiled numerous times before watching the episode. But then I didn't actively avoid spoilers today either, so it's ok.

Over all it was a good episode, even though I didn't care for their version of that Rupaul song. I reckon it's also because that challenge format is getting tired now.

I really like all of their final speeches. Rita is such a sweetheart. Bobo's lipsync was tight. And Priyanka looked amazing.

Over all, well done Canada! :canada:

I had a reddit alert saying “congratulations Scarlett Bobo...” then I stopped reading so I thought I’d been spoiled and was pleasantly surprised by the Priyanka win! The right choice as much as I loved Rita’s constant STANK FACE.

Found the lip sync a bit much as that was the song played at my brother’s funeral, thought Scarlett killed it though even if it was the typical everything but the kitchen sink style.

It’d probably be airing now if it wasn’t for COVID :(
I'm happy for a winter season. Hopefully it comes before the next US season.

All in all a good year for drag race if we go from this time last year to now. UK and Canada were unpolished but exciting and more fun than intense.

And S12 US was a dream. All Stars was a good as a nice interim and was really just a celebration of Shea and Juju with extra credits for India and the 5 Hs. I-con-ique

The episode started with an ad for Drag Race Holland by RuPaul, so it will be released on wow+ app soon.

Agree with most of the above. BoBo won that lipsync, but Priyanka absolutely a deserved winner. And I get that her looks absolutely are not top drawer, but she's got charisma in spades, which is way more important in my reckoning.

DRUK and Canada really feel like they have reinvigorated the format for me.

What a surprisingly great season, especially considering how ropey it all looked around about episode two.

And three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten :D

Loved this season. I felt so happy for the 4ft boxer guy thing that went out week 1 getting a compliment from someone and the validation she got from it before it all got a bit forced with girls just repeating what someone just said about someone else.

Ooh well the ending was spoiled for me (thank you Suggested Insta posts that appeared these days), but at least the result was good.

Priyanka is a star, and has been the best for me this season entertainment-wise. I wonder if her talking heads would have been a bit much if Lemon hadn't been there. But anyway stunning runway, amazing verse. I love the genuine friendship with Lemon, and just positivity in general.

Rita would've been a left-field winner, but I DO love her a lot. I liked the alien runway, and her mannerisms and attitude throughout the season. This episode wasn't really a Rita-friendly one, I wish she had done her lipsync reveal earlier so she might have gone for it a bit more. But anyway, excited to see her in the inevitable AllStars.

I've always ranked Scarlett low, but not really because she's not good. She knows her aesthetic and is comfortable with it, but it's not my cup of tea. I was so glad for her in the lipsync though, she was giving it everything. Rightly I don't think that justifies the win, I don't know what was so admirable about always being in the middle of the pack.. But she went out on a high. Her runway was really nice, but tbh she was better in that Cruella deVil one from a few weeks back.

A great season really, it felt like a good US season with good characters, but without the baggage of Ru & Michelle that seems to force storylines and drama. In fact there wasn't that much drama was there (except offscreen with JBC), I like it that way. I know the gays much prefer to watch people fighting than being friends, I wonder why that is. This cast were reading more than hating, which is great by me.

So who came 2nd? In the UK one I remember them placing Baga 3rd and Divina was runner up.

I agree Scarlett didn't deserve the win, but in fairness she wasn't always middle of the pack, was she? She was ranked in the top group rather than plain 'safe' more often than not.

According to Wikipedia, Scarlett's run was: Safe/Safe/High/High/Safe/High/High/High/Win

Comparatively, Rita's was: Win/Safe/Safe/Win/High/Win/Safe/B2/B2

Priyanka: Safe/High/Win/Safe/B2/Safe/B2/Win/Safe

I guess that’s the flaw with scorecards that everyone gets obsessed over

is safe every time better than a win and a bottom 2?

I don’t see it as a scorecard thing. It just seemed evident to me that Scarlett was one of the top competitors consistently.

Priyanka had the best challenge this week without question. But had she fucked up this week, I'd have had no problem at all in accepting Scarlett as a worthy winner.

I think Scarlett winning would sum up her trajectory really, I never felt like her position was in her control really. She avoided the bottom because there was always someone fucking up more than her, and there was always someone doing better than her. I don't think I ever got a WOW moment with her, but I did with the other two. So with that in mind it would've been a bit of a damp squib for her to win for me

Thinking about it, the show is odd in a way that the skill a lot of the queens pride themselves on - lipsyncing - really only comes into play when you're at the bottom, so that if you excel in that area then it never fully feels like a winning moment because you had to screw up to get there in the first place. Granted, there are lip syncing challenges, but not everyone can write a decent verse or adapts well to 'musical' style numbers.

Scarlett's wow moment was when she finally was in her environment in the final and could lip sync to a pop song. Likewise with Sasha Velour in a way; if she had have taken part in any other season before that she'd have gone down as a fashionable and smart queen who never really stood out.

Agreed. Weirdly, had Scarlett performed worse and landed in the bottom two a couple of times, she could have established herself as the lip sync assassin of the season - which is far more likely to win you a fanbase than just drifting through the upper-middle of the pack.

but that’s by design really, you want them to fight in the bottom 2 with something that basically any queen can give a good whack at.

and the finale always has lip syncing to some degree, whether it’s the tournament style of the latter-day US finales, the song-writing challenges of All Stars & the regional shows, or even just the last lip syncs in the old series. Because that’s more climactic, it’s something again that all the queens should at least be able to do.

I know I’ve said it multiple times in this thread already (:D), but that lipsync from Scarlett is possibly the high point of the ENTIRE SEASON for me. It’s just flawless.

The narrative that she finally got her moment to shine to “You’re A Superstar” in the literally final seconds of the competition is just TOO DELICIOUS also :disco:

The lip syncs this serious haven’t all been winners, but I like that they did a better job of picking from the Canada back cat than some of the rank choices for DRUK
