RPDR CAN S1E01: Eh-Laganza Eh-Xtravaganza

There was a certain season two low budget charm to this. However, the decision not to have a clear head judge / lead host is not the tea. Just let Brooklyn do it.
 
I kind of struggled with it as well, but I think Brooke Lynn doesn't have the charisma. It's new, so I'd rather just let it bed in.

Do we know if this has been filmed in its entirety already?

The lighting in the workroom and on stage really made things look low budget. Why did they only turn the expensive lights for the lip sync? They should have been on from the start.
 
Surely Brooke Lynn worked with some of these (older?) queens prior to her being on Drag Race, as Canada is hardly HUGE in terms of a drag scene..?

It must feel quite strange to suddenly be judged by her considering she didn’t win her season, and that her career since has been fine but unspectacular.

I keep thinking if Crystal from DRUK was on this she would be the clear front-runner, as the talent pool is so average (based on what we’ve seen so far)

I really enjoyed this because the casting is just great. Jimbo is the embodiment of why I keep coming back to this nonsense - just incredibly creative and eccentric. Her schtick in the mountain climbing task was just incredible, and her runaway outfit showed she’s a double threat.

I liked Lemon’s runway because it made him look like a character from the underrated DARIA

Anyway, I found this... meh. The challenge winner was average at best. No one came up with anything amazing. Brooke is a robot.
 
I really enjoyed the hosting panel and didn't even find myself missing any of the regulars, Ru included. Though I did appreciate that a good reverence was being paid to Ru - her standard competiton lines and her music being played.

I also think that there's a hell of a lot of hot mess potential in this cast. And those always make for the most entertaining queens, imo.
