The Samiska Melodifestivalen, also known as the Sámi Grand Prix, has been held in Kautokeino on Easter Saturday every year since 1990. It initially started as an addition to the Sámi Easter Festival.
For the first time in 2024, SVT is co-producing the competition, and as a result, the competition has been renamed the Sámi Melody Festival in Sweden. It's deciding which song and which joik will be the song and joik of the year respectively.
Voting
The Swedish and Norwegian voting close at the same time. The votes are weighted so that the votes coming in from the Swedish side contribute to 1/3 of the total score, the Norwegian votes make up 1/3 of the total score, and the jury accounts for 1/3.

Ánndaris Rimpi - "I goassak vuollána"
Ánndaris Rimpi has worked with music for over 30 years. He has composed music for theater, but also provided the voice for Olaf in the Sámi version of Frozen.
ByCecilia - "Mannem åajaldahtem"
Cecilia Dyrøy discovered just a few years ago that she can sing. The song she performs is the very first one she writes in Sámi.
Hanna Nutti - "Áhpi"
Hanna Nutti writes and releases her own music mostly in English or Swedish and is now making her debut in the Sámi Grand Prix. She is, by the way, the sister of Sara Nutti (Dear Sara) who is competing in this year's edition of Melodifestivalen.
Ingá Máiiá Blind - "Giitosat"
Ingá Máiiá competes for the second time in the Sámi Grand Prix, and this time she competes against her cousin Hanna. The song is about gratitude to those who have come before and taken care of nature.
NTÏV - "Čáhci"
Johánas Nutti Lampa was raised by his mother to be proud of his Sámi heritage. He has challenged himself by writing the song in Sámi.
Sivvu - "Govddun"
Milla Pulska has competed in the Sámi Grand Prix twice before with SomBy, which won in 2009, and Ravggon, which came in third place in 2015.
