The SANREMO CHAT LONGE FT. MONGE (Italy 2024)

The press got to listen to the songs today and have been publishing their first reviews. Lots of uptempo songs and only a couple of ballads this year. The women have the stronger songs this year. Looks like Italy are pushing for a female winner FINALLY!

Of possible Moopy interest (or concern):

Annalisa - Sinceramente
Dance-pop. Similar to Mon Amour and Bellissima. Most reviews are saying she's in contention to WIN.

Diodato - Ti muovi
A ballad as expected. Good but maybe not on the same level as Fai Rumore. Some have said it sounds like something from the 1970s, others like Radiohead (:zombie:!).

Mahmood - Tuta gold
Soldi 2.0, even down to the "clap-clap" in the chorus.

Emma - Apnea
Lots of great reviews. Nothing like La mia città or her previous Sanremo entries. Described as electronic/dance with a nod to Italian female dance/disco pop from the 1980s.

Angelina Mango - La noia
Co-written by Madame. Uptempo with cumbia/Latin American influences. Up there with Annalisa as having one of the best uptempo songs in the competition, and another that could be in the mix to win.

Loredana Bertè - Pazza
The only rock song in the competition. This received the best reviews out of all 30 songs. Expect her to MOTHER.

The earlier rumours about the duets turned out to be complete rubbish. However the confirmed list is possibly even better.

Spagna, Paola & Chiara, La Rappresentante di Lista, and Skin of Skunk Anansie fame all taking part this year.

Ricchi e Poveri singing "Sara perche ti amo" seems a bit cheeky.

Annoyingly, Weeweeblogggs seems to have the best summary:

First Night – Tuesday, 6th February 2024

Prepare your ears for the grand unveiling of 30 sensational songs! The fate of the performers lies in the hands of the press, TV, and web jury. There’s no elimination on this day.

Second Night – Wednesday, 7th February 2024

The top 15 songs from the previous night get another chance to shine. This time, it’s a dual voting affair: 50% televoting and 50% radio jury. The stakes are high, but fear not – no acts will bid farewell just yet.

Third Night – Thursday, 8th February 2024

The spotlight now shifts to the remaining 15 songs. Once again, it’s a dual voting extravaganza: 50% televoting and 50% radio jury. Tensions rise, but rest assured, there are no goodbyes yet.

Fourth Night – Friday, 9th February 2024 – Cover Day

A twist awaits as the 30 acts will perform cover version of any song they’d like. Alongside guest acts of their choice, the stage transforms into a musical wonderland. The results? A threesome voting feast: 34% televoting, 33% press, TV, and web jury, and 33% radio jury. No eliminations at this point.

Fifth Night – Saturday, 10th February 2024

The final crescendo! All 30 songs echo once more, and this time, it’s the audience’s turn to take the reins with 100% televoting. Brace yourselves for the results as the curtain falls on the main event.

But wait, there’s more! The sum of all results from the five days will unveil the top 5 acts, who will either perform their original entries again or treat us to a nostalgic recap. The ultimate winner will be determined by a threesome voting showdown: 34% televoting, 33% press, TV, and web jury, and 33% radio jury. Drumroll, please!

Actually, I’ve just read it, and it’s crap. How many exclamation marks and reminders that people aren’t eliminated do you need?
