Westworld (HBO)

Literally the most boring milieu after the wild west and space is Japan and the Far East!

But this show managed to make Western beautiful so I guess it could work.

Better episode this week (no Dolores). I'm not a fan of William but this was his best bit and I like the daughter.

Yeah this week was good even though there was no Maeve... I think they're now being pretty open that they're fucking with the timeline all over the place and it's barely worth trying to piece it together.

Unless there's a big twist coming, everything feels easy to track this season. You have the past and then the progress from Ford's murder and two weeks later.

i'm starting the new episode for the 4th time. not even halfway through. if i drift off again, i'm calling it quits.

Nice setting and lots of Maeve is a net positive for me. Dolores can go jump off a cliff for all I care.

it was actually a very decent effort :o she really is a jill of all trades

I don't get how Sizemore suddenly knew Japanese though

he learned it at the louvre listening to a podcast with dr alban. that's why it's a bit dodgy. not a bad episode altogether if a bit hummus.

This was the first episode where the actor playing Sizemore seemed vaguely competent. However it's also the first one where Sizemore himself seemed competent too.

I really like Sizemore and not just because I saw his cock. The farmer outfit he's been wearing and the faces he's been making in the background have been hilarious.

thank fuck they got out of Nippon

it's great to have the Man in Black's daughter in the mix, it gives his story a new dynamic, it was really going in circles. I think she's bluffing and is out to fuck him up real good

The only reason I keep watching is because I have a couple of podcasts about it that I like. I'm really not invested.

I feel more obligated than interested as well. nice cliffhanger though

Good final stretch of episodes, the finale felt like a mental exercise trying to sort out all the time lines but it was shot very beautifully and the music was so good.

I had to read their explanation of what the stinger at the end was which is annoying but otherwise not a bad season.

My head is spinning; at the moment I'm not sure this payoff was quite what I was hoping for.

And
Maeve's consciousness had better fucking be in that handbag
Well there's a sentence that makes no sense out of context.

If it’s not in the bag then she will be resurrected by the techs. It was very heavily implied.

This is as far as I've got. What was the point in the Japan segue?

This season has felt a bit of an effort at points, but I'll definitely give the next one a few episodes as the new set up is intriguing.

Hopefully Dolores will be slightly less irritating than she has been at times going forward.

a pleasing finale. as FF says above this very post it was a chore throughout the middle of it

am I getting something wrong or can those beautiful balls in her handbag only have been human data? the vault with host data was blown up several episodes ago

The balls are probably hosts taken directly from their heads. So when she shot Bernard/Arnold she took his mind egg and rebuilt his body. She transferred her egg to a new Dolores body from Charlotte. So we don't know who's in Charlotte's body in that last scene.

So it could be any host that didn't go through the door and who's head was intact.

I was certain that the fourth season was supposed to be the last. The finale felt like ”the end”. There wasn’t any need for another season.

I'm disappointed but I can't even remember how S4 ended to know whether I care about how they wrapped it up :square:

I watched and am not un-devastated. The fourth series clearly ended with a plan for one more series to wrap it all up.

It did?

Shows how little I understand this show

All you need to remember is the piano version of Pyramid Song.

YES. The real world was doomed but Dolores was given a last chance to show that life deserved to survive through a new version of the original park. I think. Maybe.

The piano version of Pyramid Song was nice, though.

Yes that much I could understand. I just thought it would be like starting all over.
