This just re-appeared in my life after a good YEAR and it remains just as much of a max track as it was back in 08

When I finally learn to drive and run someone over this will definitely be my anthem

TEN

One of my favourite songs OF ALL TIME

Amazing on every single level. ANTHEMIC. The way the final chorus is layered over the chants creates a sense of FRENETIC DRAMA which is not usually associated with Brandy.

And of course the video in which she casts herself as GOD (in a PARKING LOT) is truly iconic.

I don't often agree with Jark's insane hyperbole, but this song is a 10/10 and no mistake.

Was it even properly released in the UK? The only time I ever heard it involuntarily was playing in the lobby of a Swedish hotel after me and Suomi came staggering back from a night out. I think we both gay squealed.

I remember hearing it in H&M on Oxford Street once and doing the same, taking it was an indication that it was about to HAPPEN

I like it LOTS but never get the urge to play it.

I think it's probably my favourite (solo) song from the manslaughtering bitch. It's certainly the only one i can remember right now.

I don't know what you were all expecting when you went to see this washed-up bitch

However I could have been tempted by a live perf of this iconic moment

To be fair, that's basically HALF THE TIME she'd put into her ENTIRE CAREER over the preceding five years

This was absolutely the best track she could have possibly made a comeback with (and the album that followed was her best to date). How it didn't blow up (and Long Distance right behind it) is an injustice to THE LIVING.

LOVE it, not her best song ("Full Moon" (remix) and "The Boy is Mine" are better), although the album wasn't up to much

Utterly tremendous in every way. I still get a bit upset that this didn't actually happen for her in the end :( But then, it never really does. I spent half of autumn 2004 attempting to kid myself that Afrodisiac would be the massive shock crossover smash #1 that every single after The Boy Is Mine should've been for her in the UK.

I love Brandy's weird habit of standing LEGS AKIMBO (as per that screen shot). It's so un-ladylike.

But then again so is MURDER.
:D

An amazing but forgotten post about an amazing but forgotten song

Can I just say apropos of nothing that '1st and Love' is one of my very favourite Brandy songs these days?

Her voice is so warm and lovely on it. I love the percussion too.

Human is a terrific soul-pop album, I just can't believe it flopped. Piano Man should have been the next single. Brandy's vocals on Right Here are something else, I particularly love how deep she comes into the 2nd part of the 2nd verse: "the fire's got you down on both knees".

The only song I really love from that album other than 'Right Here (Departed)' is 'Camouflage'

"Camouflage" is one of my very, VERY favourite Brandy songs and utterly gorgeous. The vocal arrangement just builds and builds until we get to the bit after the middle 8 at 2'20" where it really starts to take off before the incredibly layered final minute starts. The end reminds me of "WOW" from Full Moon which can only be a very, very good thing.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, no one does vocal arrangements like Brandy.

I love most of the rest of Human too though and am entirely with VoR on his love for "1st & Love". "The Definition", "Piano Man", "Long Distance", "Human" and "Fall" are all just as good for me too.

The Definition is probably my favourite on the album, particularly some of the ad-libs towards the end (featuring plenty of Brandy's trademark WOO-WOOs which are always :disco:)

The bonus track 'Gonna Find My Love' is my aging favourite from Human
