UK 2014: Molly - Children of the Universe

Is it a winner?

I'd honestly be relatively happy with Andrea Begley at this point, if the song was passable. I don't watch The Voice and I know she got an element of pity voting, but could she at least sing?

I wonder if the proportion of blind Eurovision contestants is much more than the European average.

OMG what if this is like game of thrones, and only some people got "talented new artist", some got "it's bloody LULU darling", etc.

I'd be tempted to do a poll for best blind Eurovision contestant, but if Corrina May and her hot Su Pollard vox didn't walk it I'd have another of my embarrassing meltdowns.

Aren't blind contestants a bit passé now, anway? I don't want Andrea Begley unless she's lost a limb since I last saw her, or somehow become quadriplegic.

Andrea Begley was SHIT. She only won on the pity vote.

I can't see the BBC picking a total unknown internally. Unless the song is good, or more likely no one else wanted to do it!

Haven't you been "relatively happy with XXX at this point" about just about EVERYONE mentioned so far? :D

Push the Button have posted a Wet Wet Wet song this morning in a "THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT ABOUT EUROVISION" way, which makes me think it's most likely them.

The Wet Wet Wet story was MADE UP by someone on another forum and as usual it got legs. It also doesn't tie in with the blurb on the Applause Store site.

SIGH. It's all starting to sound very like the days before Bonnie was revealed last year.

Push The Button were the ones who started the "Scottish" rumour which prompted the person on the forum to come up with Wet Wet Wet in the first place.

The question is, how did Josh James meet Wet Wet Wet, and what does it all MEAN?

Brb, going to make a newspaper wall in the basement with pins & string between articles

With Lulu's face in the middle?

Which also could be bollocks. Let's FACE IT, this was probably only decided on Monday and we all know it's going to be a MASSIVE let down, whatever the outcome.

We've probably still got another few weeks before they actually announce it as well, as for some reason, the BBC always likes to be the very last, even though no one GIVES A FUCK

For security reasons we cannot release the artist name

Is that because Extremist Fundamentalist Lesbian Muslim Terrorists have issued a fatwa on this Talented New Star?

That strikes as more of an effort than they usually make. Bonnie was just sort of apologetically announced.

What channel is that? BBC3 I figure, as Eastenders is on at that time...

I figure we'll know by Sunday.

I'm reasonably confident they've gone with Nina Nesbitt (Scottish, is in London right now (a friend tells me), supposedly an 'up and coming' pop star).

That'd make sense. They've obviously ploughed a lot of money into her (those fucking Youtube ads used to drive me nuts), and it isn't really happening so far.

Not a fan of her music, but she's young and Radio 1 playlisted her last single so I'd be totally on board.

She hasn't been particularly successful here so far, but I've noticed her across the Scandinavian iTunes stores quite a bit.

It's always confused me the lack of artists using it as a springboard, rather than a comeback.

It just needs someone to do well from it and not instantly disappear into obscurity.

I'm not sure Nina is that person, but it'd definitely be a huge step in the right direction.

Quick spotify check, and this song is 3 minutes long off of Nina's album

It's rather nice on first listen, but by no means a standout (not that the rest of the rumour mill has been exactly packed with potential standouts either mind!).

Nina's denied it on Twitter.

@ninanesbitt You are the latest name on the endless list for the UK #eurovision entry, any truth?

Any entry will surely deny it. The last two weren't really Twitter generation to do it!

It's the red button, so it's probably 10 minutes on a loop rather than an hour and a half.

I'd be very happy with that. Nice track, 'current' voice, NOT AN OCTOGENARIAN.
