AS6 E10: A Game Within A Game

If you weren't in tears of laughter at Barbie Girl you're not human. Yeah it was messy, but it it was SO FUNNY. When she banged on the floor and rolled about. Too much.

THIS.

And whether not she knew it was coming or not, seeing Ru genuinely creasing up and the interaction of "joyful shock" (can't quite get it, but you know what I mean) with Michelle was brilliant!

I know I've always been a SILKY FAN, but I do understand how she's Marmite, but anyone who claims the bitch isn't talented is an idiot. They said it after the piano talent show performance and then tried to stan people who lip-synced and they now say she's "messy". Who fucking cares when she brings the LOLs and the moments?! At the very least, that IS the talent RIGHT THERE!

Barbie Girl was messy af. Such an iconic song deserved better.

The song choices were riga-morris as well. Pandora would have been much better suited to Barbie Girl, and Akeria (had she shown up) to Focus.

They clearly knew what Silky was planning and put Barbie Girl where there was no competitor so they could concentrate on her- and ALL THE BETTER FOR IT. As all the eliminated queens knew the lip-syncs exactly, they'd obviously been given a list to learn well in advance and told any of them could come up and shifted accordingly.

The song choices were all great, except Focus. What more are you LOOKING for in a lip-sync song!?

I think both things are true at the same time.

Silky is clearly a big favourite with Ru and this episode felt completely built around redeeming her. She was clearly given every opportunity for success and you could kind of tell the other queens all knew it by how visibly pissed off they were.

That said, the Barbie girl lip sync WAS hilarious. She's a messy lip syncer with pretty much no rhythm who frequently doesn't bother to learn her words and relies on stunts, but she did bring her stunt game to the max on this episode. It's hard to resent her for taking the opportunity Ru gave her and running with it.

As for A'keria, she BLATES either got told what was going down, or just didn't want to lip sync to Barbie Girl :D

Special mention has to go to Ra'Jah for her commentary throughout it all, and her genuinely quite excited about it all reactions (including calling out miserable Trinity for being miserable).

Absolutely!

It really feels like the edit has turned on Trinity these past couple of episodes, which is a real shame as I'm still rooting for her hard, but she's the clear frontrunner to go out next.

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me that much if Ru just said fuck it and let Silky win the whole thing :D

It also wouldn't surprise me if that was the plan from the start. I can't remember if I said it on here or just in my head but I was astonished they let Silky go that early- and it wasn't even an obvious, clear cut, SHE HAS TO GO exit. I remember thinking she would be a favourite to come back- albeit I thought the "Game Within a Game" would be much quicker. The Silky Showcase really does feel like it's given her an opportunity to genuinely fight for the crown, rather than being a Latrice style, "Oh you're going home next week BITCH" moment.

Now watch them give Eureka the win and end all of this :D

The sheer versatility of Silky's lipsyncs :disco: To lipsync 5 (?) times in a row to completely varied shades of pop music, and be memorable each time doing it is TALENT. Yes she was sometimes messy, but more importantly she was entertaining, and she clearly wanted it more than all of the others.

YES there is an argument about fairness with the props and that Silky got to basically wear flats for 2 lipsyncs (:D), but when it's serving a proper redemption to one of the most maligned contestants in the show's HISTORY I'm not really bothered. It really wouldn't have been the same if it was JAN steamrolling her way through in a variety of highly expensive pre-bought outfits.

Silky did lose it on the last one though. She's got cocky (and FAIR ENOUGH), and once Eureka stopped the KNEE POPS and properly embodied the song lyrics it was all over really.

Trinity was also my episode highlight aside from the above :D I swear she was basically falling ASLEEP at one point. Imagine being forced to wear that plastic pink fake fur outfit under HOT STUDIO LIGHTS for such an extended period. She must have STANK by the end of it :D

”Play the music!” and ”Jan Jan…” was fun though.

Also funny when she came out eating chips and looking arrogant as fuck only to get entangled in her own stupid outfit seconds later.

Yeah, wouldn’t surprise me if Ru made her win it all.

I feel Yara scratching her GUNNY for a full minute hasn’t got the credit it deserved.

Maybe I'm giving her too much credit, but that really felt like some kind of PROTEST rather than a serious attempt to win the lip sync :D

The sheer versatility of Silky’s lipsyncs!! Omg

I think you all need to calm down, don’t know what sort of mass hypnosis you’ve been subjected to, but I’m glad that I’ve proved to be immune.
Exactly. Only a bunch of messy bottoms would be impressed by this so-called "versatility".

You could tell Trixie was not really very impressed on this week's Pit Stop.

I love Denali's looks, I love her as a performer, but sheesh she's really missing the PERSONALITY isn't she

I'd love to see her on All Stars, as I think she has potential to deliver some really legendary runways but she needs to AMP IT UP A BIT!

I admit my view on Silky is clouded by the fact that I think she is nasty and obnoxious, not that talented, and I hate how she dresses herself (her gunt is perpetually bothersome).

Yeah I softened up to her when she was first eliminated but then I watched an interview with her and Jiggly and she was her old obnoxious self. Didn’t let poor Jiggly say a word.

Also never forget this In the height of covid

Don't really care to wade into the POINTED dialogue from both sides, but I really enjoyed that :D I felt like this was a more exciting culmination of the AS4 grudge matches and the S13 premiere, and addresses one of the key problems with the new All Stars format - that nobody can lip sync for their life anymore.

I didn't disagree with any of the results, even if Jan took it close to the wire. Silky was the only one really doing anything gagworthy - Jiggly's was a fairly ordinary win (and she just sort of gave up in the second one). Followers of my Moopy Karaoke career will notice I'm partial to a stunt :eyes: and while I was far from a Silky stan, she really WAS READY TO DO SO

I presume they're both coming back since you got a goodbye scene with all the other losing queens - I suppose they could shoe-horn that in with the reveal next week though? I hate a late-stage return, but I think Eureka and Silky both went for it, even if Silky's storyline didn't really come across without the confessional explanation.

I cackled anyway, several times - and what else can I really ask for than that?

Oh, and next week's episode sounds ... much more entertaining :manson: wasn't one trauma-porn episode enough in this season?

Oh and Eureka wearing her dead mother's MONITOR during the lip synch and saying that it was like her presence was there with her...bizarre

Barbie Girl was fine. It was messy and got really repetitive and ran out of ideas quick, but it was alright value enough for the reveals. Imo Silky deserved to go out against Jiggly but generally did enough to win against all the others - and thank GOD she had the decency to get rid of Jan!

Also can we discuss both of them dedicating Since U Been Gone to their MOTHERS?!

Rupaul seemed to like Jan a bit more that episode, entertaining her "Jan" puns.

Probably because he knew would've sent her home even if Silky did literally nothing

I'm surprised you thought that about Silky/Jiggly, I thought Jiggly was much lower energy than in her first lipsync!

I mean yeah Silky leaned on the props a lot but so what? Did we think Scarlett or Pandora really sold it? Even Yara took a weird turn that didn’t really land. The one I thought would end the streak was A’Keria and well…

Btw on the note about mothers, I took Silky’s perf to be that she was her mother giving up junk food, and being happier since THAT was gone
