Happy 20th everyone. I've been here around 10, but snuck out the back for a fag that lasted just a quick 3 or 4 years. And it was a mixture of lockdown and a psycho ex that somehow found out about moopy and planted the seed back by referring to things I'd posted from my very beginning. It was like a form of reclaiming myself - yes I'm dressing it up as something more grand than it ought to be - hi I'm straightorbroken people :disco:

I've only been here sixteen years but Moopy will always have a special place in my heart. What an amazing bunch of people you all are.

I joined up because I couldn't connect a new PS3 to the internet, found the site through a Google search and Widge-> ended up helping me out, I stayed and a couple of weeks later the penny dropped that most of the posters weren't women :D In the immortal words of Tone Loc "Sheena was a man!"

What other forums were our alleged rivals?

Haven (this was the main split of the Dotlite crowd, essentially between nasty queens and dull straights)
Buzzjack (I think came after and I always think of as Moopy Jr and not necessarily in a good way)
Chart Forum Refugees (That last guy who ran it into the ground)
Some screaming Madonna forum (does it still exist?)
CoolClarity (what WAS that?)

I'm sure there were a couple more down years.
 
A quick scan of Haven, they seemed to have missed the anniversary (I think they beat us by about a day). They look pretty dead.

Was it that early? I remember Andy was the first person to be told Dotmusic was closing, he must have planned ahead.

I seem to recall we were soon keen to NOT be part of Haven, we scoured everywhere to find a home but we didn't fit in anywhere, we concluded we had to open our own. We were essentially homeless during January 2004.

Happy 20th Moopy. This place made covid so much less miserable. And introduced me to so much of my favorite music. To 20 more years and at least 4 new active posters in that time
 
I joined because of the Mariah thread, but got so much more. I got a Mariah forum.
