How are you likely to vote?

Hmm I don't know what other ID she has.

Also, is it justifiable to unfriend people who dont vote? I have a few friends that aren't voting because they "don't really know who to vote for/they're all the same so what's the point" :manson:
Ugh. I’m not the most politically minded person but I have never not voted. The ones that didn’t vote in the Brexit referendum were the absolute worst.

Have we talked about the fact that this is the first GE with photo ID? Could it impact the final result versus what we’re seeing in polling?

People who don’t understand politics are better off not voting.

Although I’d rather most people mustered up the courage to vote purely based on getting the Tories out of government. It’s enough of a reason.

Yeah I think I'm more annoyed with the ones that didn't vote in Brexit than the ones that voted to leave.

Im not politically minded at all, and I always vote with my heart, whether that's sensible or not, but at least I vote. Friends that can't be bothered or don't do any research drive me insane.... because they will still complain about everything!

It's not that hard to do a bit of research tho. It's not like the information isn't everywhere at the moment.

Unfortunately a lot of the information is lies or propaganda. It’s not just about asking people to do research, it’s asking them to understand where best to find it. And it’s probably not best to try and start understanding a few days before an election, when every party is promising a load of bollocks anyway, and spending most of their time criticising everyone else.

The online questionnaires are pretty good, as long as you are using an independent source.

I asked my friend why she's not voting, her reply was "I'm not that bothered to be honest" and now I feel like I need to not talk to her for a while, while I calm down.

I can see why she is disengaged as she works for the NHS. She probably has had to put up with a lot of crap in her job. If you’re reevaluating a friendship over that, then perhaps it’s not that much of a friendship at all.

or she could teach this idiot a LESSON!

you can't DISENGAGE FROM POLITICS. it's a privilege we don't have now, if we ever did. the food on your table, the money in your bank account, the world your children live in, your daily reality - you can't say you're simply not bothered by these things. don't be an airhead. grow the fuck up and use your voice! that's what I'd tell your friend Rachey (in a nice, diplomatic way of COURSE)

You definitely can disengage from politics. It’s our right to vote. It’s also our right not to vote if we don’t want to. I can completely understand why some people are so frustrated by all the lies, sleaze, nepotism, fraud, that they’ve had enough. For a lot of people who is in power won’t really change their lives much on a day to day basis. Sure we have to educate people and try to encourage them to vote, but my point is that I wouldn’t end a friendship over it.

Unfortunately not :(
He WAS! (The Tory cunt)

I wouldn't actually not be friends with her 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm just very disappointed in her. She's always been so vocal about things and complains about a lot of things the government do. Don't vote, don't complain.

I have don't worry. I've told her we are lucky to be able to vote and have a say, and her vote will matter even if she doesn't think it will. I've also told her she should vote just to help get conservatives out on the island and get someone in who genuinely cares about the place.

But her reply was "each to their own, I'm just not bothered". I've had to come away from WhatsApp for the evening because I'll say something I regret.

I'm as frustrated as anyone by people who don't vote. However, in my experience the people who 'don't really do politics' are usually most easily swayed by populist rhetoric, so let them stew in their fucking ignorance.

Agreed with Lolly. Anti-democratic it may seem, but I don't think it serves any of us to have ignorant, un-informed people voting.

But I also don't want to hear those non-voters ever daring to moan about the state of the country.

Looking at the YouGov polling I've only just realised that this will be an unprecedented swing and I love a good swing :ken:

I was too busy thinking about when the Tories took power 14 years ago as the comparison, but the swing is against 2019, when Labour lost big. YouGov saying there is no data to compare to what these swings could look like :disco:

Things Sir Ed Davey has done on this campaign:

  • Slip and slide
  • Kayaking
  • Building sandcastles
  • Tea cup ride
  • Giant swing
  • Bungee jump

Anything else I've forgotten?

It's election day :disco:

Which means lots of BBC news footage of people at polling stations and absolutely nothing else. Joy.

Drumming, paddleboarding, baking, cycling, rollercoastering.

I think he's managed in six weeks what it has taken me fifteen years to do in teambuilding days. Fair play.

They're already sounding bored. There's only so many ways you can say "Labour are going to win, Tories are going to lose". Still get a little stiffy everytime they say the latter though, not gonna lie.
