The exclamation mark in Victoria Silvstedt’s title is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I feel like the song might as well be called ‘Amyl!’ since it sets out its stall through punctuation alone.

Ella Tiritiello - Bara du är där (t&m: Adam ”Rymdpojken” Englund, David Björk, Loreen Talhaoui)
:disco: :disco: :disco:
Amazed that she had time to pen an entry in-between releasing less than 2 minutes long songs!

Thoughts:

- Heats 1 and 4 look pretty killer :disco:
- SO much G:son!
- Revolution sounds set to be such an anthem (derogatory) :eyes:
- LIAMOO cowriting for Andreas from Alcazar :o
- Tusse cowriting for Angelino
- Loreen cowriting for an utter nobody :disco:
- Maja Ivarsson looks like an incredibly exciting prospect to have a big breakout moment, from those songwriters
- Annika Wickihalder probably set to have this year's 'I Can't Believe It's Not The Mamas!' entry, judging by the appearance of the ever touche éclated Patrik Jean
- Again: 'The Heart of a Swedish Cowboy' :D
- KNEW Arvingarna were due back sooner rather than later
- Lineup looks a bit younger than usual - good to have a bit of a refresh year, but hoping it doesn't turn out like 2013 where they were all a bit undercooked
- Birrova shame we didn't get Charlotte or A*Teens in the end, but looks set to be a fairly strong year

Little deep dive into the artists (WIP)

Deltävling 1: Luleå (01/02)
Linnea Henriksson - Den känslan

(text och musik: David Lindgren Zacharias, Linnea Henriksson, Sebastian Atas)

Quite a big name to start with, as she was one of the most played artists on Swedish radio in the 2010s, and actually hosted Melfest in 2020 (she was fine).

Her signature song, a massive radio hit in 2012 which reached #3 on the Swedish charts.

Meira Omar - Hush Hush
(text och musik: Anderz Wrethov, Dino Medanhodzic, Laurell Barker, Meira Omar)

Born in Afghanistan, raised in Stockholm and having lived and worked as an actress and dancer in several major Bollywood productions in India, Meira Omar is an industry vet but not really a known quantity as a musician. She also appeared on Love Is Blind Sweden, where she married a total stranger, as is that show's gimmick. They seem to still be together as far as I can tell.

She's only released one single before now, and that was back in 2020.

Maja Ivarsson - Kamikaze Life
(text och musik: Andreas ”Giri” Lindbergh, Jimmy ”Joker” Thörnfeldt, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Maja Ivarsson)

The lead singer of Swedish indie-pop group The Sounds, who had a huge hit in 2002 with this song.

Albin Johnsén feat. Pa - Upp i luften
(text och musik: Albin Johnsén, Christoffer Balazik, FERNAND MP, Mattias Andréasson, Pa Modou)

Mostly still dining out on his massive 2014 hit 'Din Soldat' with Kristin Amparo. He's cropped up in Melfest as a songwriter and also as a performer in 2020, when he crashed out of Semi 3 with this eminently forgettable number.

John Lundvik - Voice of the Silent
(text och musik: Jimmy Jansson, John Lundvik, Peter Boström, Thomas G:son)

Adrian Macéus - Vår första gång
(text och musik: Adam”Rymdpojken” Englund, Adrian Björklund, Adrian Macéus, Hugo Geijer Persson, William Pärlenskog)

Despite only being 19 years old, adrian is quite an established performer. He's played the title role in a major Stockholm production of Billy Elliot, provided the lead voice in the Swedish dub of the Pixar film Coco and stars on the popular kids TV show Berts Dagbok. (Bert's Diary)

He's released quite a lot of music, but never yet had a breakout hit. Here's one of them.

Without knowing anything about a lot of the acts, I’m going to go ahead and assume SCHLAGERZ will, despite their name, actually be a collection of middle aged men who Moopy will be violently opposed to.

Livet börjar nu is genuinely one of the worst Melfest entries of the last decade. Those NOX!

On paper I'd expect John and Linnea to be frontrunners in Heat One, with Maja and Adrian good bets for AC, Albin and Meira as roadkill.

Aftonbladet seemed really very excited about Meira. Absolutely murderous heat on paper - I reckon Adrian might potentially be monge

Amazed Mans hasn’t been given the pimp slot. Is it going to VOICE OF A GENERATION Victoria Silvstedt?
God I am hauling HARD for this :D Although I suspect she's more likely to get the honorary 'fun for fags! (but nobody else)' slot of opening the final heat

I wonder if they're reverting to heat 4 being the traditional killer heat with the contenders in, with heat 5 being more of a let your hair down party affair?

I wouldn't read too much into Mans being in Heat 4. It's where they put Danny last year who obviously did flop in the end, but let's face it he got in his own way there.

Is that definitely the running order? I thought it was always released at a later date?

It's not the running order - realised for the everyth year in a row (after that stroppy bitch @Pingu shouted at me) that it's in song title order

Lundvik being back with a Jansson, G:son och Boström sounds more competitive than last time...

Also fuck me, that really is an AVENGERS ASSEMBLE cast of songwriters for Klara Hammarström. All the writers of Tattoo, minus Jimmy Joker but plus Dino Medanhodzic.

Not EVERYTHING G:Son/Joker/Debs etc turn their hands to can be competitive!!

Their involvement means so much less since 80% of the entries had at least some of the "usual suspects" behind them.

I mean, 12/30 did (of writers who actually win stuff), and I'd ordinarily agree when it comes to the ones for nobodies, but Lundvik is one of the ones that's actually a seasoned performer who can notionally pull in big jury and televotes...

I really liked The Sounds, they had some great songs... though a lot of them did sound quite similar. Maja and some of the same songwriters did Ellen Benediktson's (!) very good recent single so I am hopeful.

I haven't kept up with Linnea Henriksson but I do love this from ten years ago:
