Again speaking as someone who has never seen the show, I started quietly CACKLING away to myself watching the movie for the first time yesterday, recalling an anecdote from a theatre-enthusiast TikToker about how, on the day the Queen died, that night’s performance of Wicked did go ahead but that they had someone come out on stage before to almost warn people that they hadn’t changed anything about the show despite the very recent news.

Ugh. A shot in the foot there. Honestly I was contemplating paying the £19.99 to watch it at home on NYE as I hate going out, but otherwise would never ever pay that for a digital movie. Jan 3rd puts a dampener on that and now I’ll wait for a price drop.
 
I guess they can somewhat justify the price (not for me personally) with the additional features that would come with a home physical release -
  • A full-length sing-along version
  • A 40-minute behind-the-scenes look at the first movie, and the rich source material both it and the hit musical are based on.
  • Audio commentary from Chu, Grande and Erivo
  • A variety of deleted and extended scenes – including:
    • Pfannee & ShenShen Meet Glinda – Reunited at Shiz University, Glinda, Pfannee, and ShenShen recall their past by performing a twirling routine together :D
    • Shiz Gazette introduces Fiyero – Excitement spreads across Shiz as word gets out that Prince Fiyero is on his way.
    • Toss Toss – Glinda teaches Elphaba the art of Toss Toss, with mixed results.
    • More of Elphaba and Fiyero in the Forest – The relationship between Elphaba and Fiyero takes a turn as they come to care for a lost lion cub.
    • Elphaba’s promise – Elphaba makes a pledge to Glinda that they both hope will strengthen their friendship.
    • Train Platform Farewell – Glinda, Madame Morrible, and Governor Thropp gather to send Elphaba off to Emerald City.

Are those extras confirmed for the UK as well? They aren't listed on amazon, although I'm not sure if they necessarily would be. Or if it's available elsewhere in the UK.
 
Yeah I’ll buy if it has those but dubious about the Amazon listing also

I would like, if I may, to complain about the colour grade again.

I just turned up the colour setting on my TV a little and it looks SO MUCH BETTER with such a basic fix. A proper grading with more vibrancy would be ideal.

Just bought this from the Apple Store and the extras are all there. Dunno about Prime, where it's a few quid cheaper.

It doesn't appear to list the extras on Prime, so I'm inclined to think not, particularly if it's cheaper than on Apple.

So I'm out.
 
It's the same price on both services: £15.99 for a 48 hour rental, or £19.99 to own. Only the to own versions will have the extras.

Prime Video extras are usually buried in the "X-Ray" menu, Apple ones will show on the splash screen.
 
Finally off to see this today. I’ve never seen the stage show and don’t know the plot so I am excited.
 
Well in my country it was showing as €16.99 on Prime earlier versus €21.99 on Apple.

May have been a mistake as it’s now €19.99 but still a chunk cheaper.
 
Just rewatching and hadn't spotted before that when the stone carving of the Wizard of Oz falls off Shiz at the begining we see the original picture of animals !

My best mate in London (who apparently walked out of the stage musical about 20 years ago, I don't know why I'm only just discovering this now) just texted me to say she just got back from seeing Wicked and it was one of the best films she's ever seen and can't stop thinking about it.

The pure joy of seeing something great when you have no expectations!
