Enya: General Updates

Enya was trending on Twitter a few hours ago thanks to Top of the Pops on BBC Four (TOTP 16/11/95) where Louise introduced her! Enya singing Anywhere Is :disco: ๐ŸŽผ

Some admire, some detest (not that Enya would really care) and some 'I don't know this one' haha
and this

๐Ÿ˜

I was going to upload as it wasn't on YouTube, someone uploaded already :D

Always appreciate the gormless TOTP audience who, as ever, struggle to decide whether they should be dancing, clapping, gently swaying, negotiating ceasefire terms with Enya's soldier army, or trying to commune with Titania Queen of the Faeries.

Another episode of Top of the Pops from 1995 (30th November 1995) like last Friday/early Saturday, where Enya sings Anywhere Is ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐ŸŽถ in a different outfit:

Enya is also compared to the late Victoria Wood and that comedic song ๐Ÿ˜… and her eye contact with the camera is noted ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ as well as the usual mix of comments, including references to the everlasting roses :grin:๐ŸŒน

This is the performance video:

It's possible that we might see Enya in photographs (that will be) taken later today :disco: assuming she's going to the gala ball/any photos from the event are shared publicly.
๐Ÿคž:enya:๐ŸŒŸ

Madame paid a lot for the soldier outfits and the Jane Horrocks wigs, and she was damn well going to get her money's worth, even if it meant miming to the same song for the same show multiple times.

I guess this is the right place to drop this off.

Performances:
Cheltenham Town Hall 31/10
The Forum Bath 5/11
Basingstoke Anvil 7/11

They're a year late (35th anniversary of Watermark was last year)
I knew about (and kind of mentioned on Marble Halls in a game thread) the Cheltenham one, from this https://list.co.uk/whats-on/184561/a-symphonic-tribute-to-enya-the-watermark-album
:) ๐ŸŽถ but I wouldn't go to it, would rather just wait for the new album by Enya โ˜บ๏ธ
but perhaps they are on Enya/Aigle time. :tongueout:
Haha, like Enya missing the Grammy award being on the red carpet http://enya.sk/2012/06/enyas-late-late-show/ ๐Ÿ˜„

New visualiser on Spotify - only for the instrumental track by Enya, Watermark; it is a slight update ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿช„

:enya: โ™ก

Sone list compiled last year, published 22nd June 2024:

Orinoco Flow at #6
:enya:
Enya 6th on list Irish Independent best Irish songs 2024

๐Ÿค— ๐ŸŽถ

It was a flashback thing (Enya's 1988 performance of Orinoco Flow ๐Ÿค— ๐ŸŒน)rather than live performance there, TOTP 25th October 1996
(it aired on Friday) 15:56 for her segment

The intro made me laugh - presenter Jo Whiley said: "Guaranteed to do funny things to your innards, she is the mother of all things ambient, and on her rider that day were 250 red roses and a bottle of brown ale - Enya." :D

I knew of the roses haha, but just learnt what a rider refers to in music (artist requests for a performance) ๐Ÿช„

She's NEVER HAD KIDS?!!
Don't forget the donor theory haha (Tracy Beaker et al.) ๐Ÿ˜„

Enya has not (officially) spoken for over 5 years โ€“ the 2019 Christmas message being the latest thing she has said (apart from the equivalent of "we will meet again soon" in the 2023 liner notes update) โ˜บ๏ธโณ๏ธ๐Ÿชฝ

She did jointly win an award this year (earlier this month) though

I discovered that thread about an hour ago, then saw it here. It becomes an advertisement towards the end :D
Some interesting points at times, though Enya probably wasn't thinking this specifically about syllables as she was recording. ๐Ÿ˜…

I wondered why the 'see also' for Enya included this guy; it was thanks to this post. ๐Ÿ˜Š

This was closest to the time of that post, early on 9th January:
Enya's response to my how are you as of 9th Jan๐Ÿ˜„

She was spotted at a party with Timbaland only last week!

As pleased as I am for Enya, I have no idea what a Morgan Wallen is and why they (and Carrie Underwood EVIL) have sharted so many times above Enya

And I'm afraid the Timbaland news is a red herring. They just share a love for limoncello. As we all know, Enya likes to stay a tad more UP TO DATE with the pop game, and Timbaland is two decades past. She has sent requests (via kestrel) to Fred Again, but alas Mr Again is unable to read Loxian, and Google Translate is not yet of any help.

There's a new Google category tab I just noticed
Enya (see Forums)

after Reddit, Moopy is listed next  :
Moopy 2nd site listed under 'Forums' searching Enya

Ah I completely missed this being announced yesterday (despite deeping the album Watermark for a bit) that
Enya won the RTร‰ Choice Music Classic Album award for 2024, for Watermark ๐Ÿคฉ ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽจโ›ต๐ŸŽ‰
The news was announced on radio (listen here) and the album was played in full later. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“ป๐ŸŽถ

and

Hope Enya will be there to collect award,& maybe perform! ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽถ
(Enya isn't in that performing category, but she'll probably be there to collect the award!) :disco: ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ†

^Enya wasn't there in-person nor by video message, but was still awarded! ๐Ÿค—๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŒŠ

There was a little montage played featuring two RTร‰ Watermark interviews from 1988, audio cleared/enhanced :disco: and then she had a lovely speech read out on her behalf. I'll add the transcription here.
Thank you so much to RTร‰ Choice Awards, I am very very honoured tonight.

When Watermark came out, I was just so proud to be able to make music. My love of music has always been a driving force to me, and any success always feels like a great bonus, as I've been determined to create music, which is true to myself from a very young age.

Watermark really kickstarted my career, and has always remained very special to me. I couldn't have made it happen without Nicky and Roma, and I am eternally grateful for their talent, vision and support. This award is as much theirs as it is mine.

I also want to thank Warner Music; I had just signed to them at the time, and they allowed me the artistic and creative freedom to make Watermark what I wanted it to be. I am delighted that it has stood the test of time, and still resonates with so many people around the world.

The album's themes felt deeply personal when I made it, but years later, they are proving to be universal feelings, which are still connecting with a new generation. I am so thankful to the people who are still discovering Watermark, and those who continue to play it almost 30 years later.

Go raibh maith agat, thank you.

"Only Time" became Enya's second single to achieve GOLD certification in the UK this week. (Orinoco Flow the first)

She will celebrate by having one of the castle maids wrapped from head to toe in gold leaf and hung from the banquet hall chandelier.
