Admin Requests (1 Viewer)

Have we always acceded to deletion demands? They are more annoying for us than the person leaving.

In the absence of a serious and serious urgent reason for deletion, can’t we just do whatever’s happened to Beverley (perhaps for six months) in case the person changes their mind?
I'm not sure we can really justify denying someone's request for deletion, for whatever reason, if that's what they really want. Since I've been around we've done it at least twice before so the precedent has been set too.

I'm not against a six month cooling off period though, but would be keen to hear other viewpoints. One practical problem with it is that I don't believe it would be possible to automate it, so an admin would have to remember and manually delete an account after those six months,

I’m sure we used to refuse most deletion requests.

In any case, less than 24 hours seems unnecessarily fast for an irreversible change.

I mean I don’t have any sway but I think that quick of a deletion is a bit rash because shit happens and tempers flare BUT hopefully we get a return at some point

Yeah a cooling off period much better… Alla has left and come back before. Especially if it’s irreversible!

As much as a member I don't like account deletions, I agree with you that fundamentally I think it's wrong to deny an account deletion request. I also think a cooling off period is a good idea, but would personally reduce it considerably from 6 months.

There's a few reasons people might want their account deleted and some of them probably require a bit of HASTE.

I think the mod team are right to honour people's requests.

I also think people offering their opinions after hindsight is unnecessary. If you want to be the one to make those in-the-moment decisions feel free to put yourself forward for the Mod Team.

Sorry, not sure I understand this - if we're not (or don't want to be mods), we shouldn't offer our opinions? And Zen actually encouraged other viewpoints?

He said someone had come for him the other day and it had affected him so badly he had to block them. I called him out about something in the MF thread the other day- was THAT what he was banging on about? Cause I don’t think I was in any way out of line or used any sort of excessive force on the matter (can’t think of the right words), but I haven’t seen him row with anyone else.

To be fair he DOES love a drama, so I wasn’t sure…

Alla is also one of those posters you get some people circling from above waiting to take their turn poking fun, let's not pretend that doesn't happen as much as, yes, she is very much the queen of drama:

Well damn. I didn’t realize this was MAGAoopy :D

Oh no. I didn’t even realise he was back! Only posting in Eurovision threads I assume? I told him they would be the death of him but would he listen??

Come back with some Family Fortunes Alla. :(

He was my chart geek correspondent in my 90s thread as well and now it won't be the same without him. :(

It's okay though I'm going to promote @Joseph into the vacancy so you'd better get your homework done :kim:

He was also contributing some really good stuff to the old 45s thread, lots of additional information & chart knowledge that really added to it. Hopefully he does return for these threads at least.

If I give feedback on your feedback to Tisch's feedback about feedback to ZenGiraffe about Alla, do you think if we keep going we can invert time and Alla won't be deleted after all?

He did disappear for quite some time though, right? Or has he been posting all along?

Is there a way to cross-post (or something) all of the Bop or Flop posts in the same way as the Classics Forum?

We don't have a way of cross-posting, so the only thing would be to create a specific forum that works like the Moopy Gold forum, but I wouldn't want to bother unless Bop or Flop became a long-term thing rather than just a flash in the pan moopy moment

We really need to put an end to this name change nonsense. VICKY THE VOLE IS NOW VV? FECK OFF.

Now change VV to VT please. It’s too much like VV Brown and we don’t need that negativity again.
