I’m obviously not seeing this but everyone who does says it’s amazing.

One of my friends has asked me to see it, but I remain resolute.

Limited release for Christmas then a wider release in January apparently

Looks like my local theatre will be the 17th

Need to see it again for the Rock DJ sequence alone! :disco::disco::disco:

Is it really a flop if nobody in the states has heard of him and he's never had a hit there?

Who was expected to rush out to see a biopic of the writer of Jessica Simpson's #6 (on the bubbling under chart) single, 'Angels'?

Yeah, I'm not sure six cinemas in New York posting less than full houses qualifies it as the next Joker Folie a Deux :basil:

Most likely the limited US cinema run is just to qualify it for the Oscar categories it hasn't already been booted out of.

I am so confused. Is it like Robbie Williams in Planet of the Apes with Caesar giving a rendition of Angels? Is this an actual real thing? 🫤

I don’t know what’s weirder, that or some queens here raving about it!

Regardless, neither qualifies as the weirdest shit we’ve seen in this timeline.

ANGLES really had a stranglehold on the culture for a decade, then we all rightfully forgot it existed.

I liked this quite a lot. I thought it was really well directed and made - after a minute or so the monkey thing was neither here or there for me, and it just became one of the more entertaining biopics. It reminded me most of Rocketman, although not as good music-wise OBVS.

I thought it lost a bit of steam towards the end and I didn't really care about the dad stuff, while I enjoyed the Take That / Nigel Martin Smith chapter the most. And hooray for Take That doing enough covers to mean this could have Take That sing, without having to be nice enough about Gary Barlow to get his permission for the rights to his stuff.

It's 7.5 out of 10 from the Finn jury

Nope! There is a nod to his solo career not getting off to a flying start, but it doesn't go into specifics.
