Eastenders 2023

OBSESSED with ELAINE PEACOCK :disco: If they play this right they really could have a new soap queen on their hands.

She really does have the makings of a new matriarch that I am not quite sure we have seen the likes of since Peggy Mitchell.

I never realised the musicals connection behind Linda’s children with Nancy, Ollie and Annie!

BTW I would love a little scene with Annie being stored behind the bar like The Brittas Empire.

Those last scenes tonight were hard viewing, and it's only going to get worse :( I appreciate that they're going to show a more realistic version of this than we usually see on TV, but my god it's going to be tough to watch.

Looks like we're getting more or less a Jay and Lola two-hander tonight bar a couple of minor roles and a short Lexi appearance.

I think I am going to have to switch off until after she dies now. I honestly can’t bare it. :(

I did kind of roll my eyes at the request she made of Billy last night, because it was out of character and it seems like a soap cliché that's done all the time. On the other hand though, I can see why it's done so often in soap as it is really unpleasant viewing watching a beloved character deteriorate before our eyes like this, so I understand if they feel there's only so much of it that viewers can stomach.

Agreed. At least Peggy just took her own pills. Why would Lola need assistance at this stage? Ethel was physically unable. With Lola it was so out of character and she’d really not put Billy at risk after what he’d recently been through. There was just no reason for it.

SHOCK RETURN!

According to reports, Michelle Collins is back as Cindy and has already started filming.

She'll return alongside Adam Woodyatt as Ian.
Remember Ian's brief appearance during the episodes of Dot's funeral? Apparently, it was Cindy he was on the phone to.

Omg

For FUCKS SAKE. So anyone who didn’t die on screen can come back then? And she wasn’t at all bothered about her children all this time - her son dying in an explosion or her daughter being murdered? Or her other daughter Cindy not knowing her?

You could argue the same for Kathy and her return was plausible to an extent. :eyes:

LIVING FOR THIS NEWS*

Cindy is an all time great EE character - up there with Janine in the villain stakes - and I've long been raging about whichever dickhead exec/writing team decided to just kill her off off-screen, for zero benefit.

*I mean, in the context that I probably still won't watch

I actually think this is a good idea and they could have done this years ago, but if DAME Michelle Collins is now on board :disco: Cindy is one of the characters and plot lines were they could feasibly write she faked her own death - it was so her! Cindy is one of the best soap characters of all time.

This aside, the Lola stuff is quite traumatic isn't it? A young mum I knew had a similar demise a few years ago. A few parts of the storyline are quite on the nose. It's a shame Jay is involved.

Although if it gives Ben more to do, I'm ALL IN.

Let's have a blast of Dame Michelle's TOP 40 SMASH SUNBURN to celebrate the resurrection of Cindy Beale

I'm happy about this simply because it's a character that should never have been killed off in the first place, but I really wanted Ian to reunite with Jane - they worked so well together and her last exit was SO weird and rushed that it should get rectified.

My favourite Michelle Collins performance after Cindy has to be Kathy Lawrence in DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

Now Cindy is a character I wouldn’t mind seeing as landlady of The Vic.
