The commentator was rude/transphobic and I think I saw that the songwriter was being cruel on Instagram too with pictures taken backstage

Oh. I did miss that.

Again, though, it’s a big can of worms to open. It would be amazing if so.

It’s quite complicated to explain but essentially there has been a contingency plan in place in televised Swedish music festivals since COVID that if an act refuses or can’t appear on stage then Sanna Nielsen is drafted in.

As bizarre as it all sounds, it’s very likely we’ll be getting Sanna Nielsen - (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi representing Estonia tonight instead

So why are other countries saying they will withdraw if the EBU is claiming it’s nothing to do with any other performer or delegation (i.e. Israel)?

I assume the mitigating factors around it? For example, if he was provoked, why he was provoked if he was, and the exact nature of that provocation.

The Dutch wouldn't be publicly criticising the EBU if the incident was cut and dry Joost is in the wrong, and it wouldn't have taken almost 24 hours.

Dutch fans are always a big contingent of the audience, and likely moreso tonight due to Europapa’s success. The atmosphere tonight is going to be absolutely poisonous.

Agreed. I’m both furious and incredibly sad.
I mean there are countries that decided to secretly all vote for each other and the punished was no jury scores for them in the final. This is ridiculous if nothing has been proven yet.

Good luck to all the broadcasters finding high profile artists to voluntarily put themselves through this next year…

Olly should go out on tour with Roisin Murphy and Eternal.
