Eurovision Forum: Introduce yourself / Eurovision questionnaire

I'm going to re-do this.

In which country do you live?

UK

How many years have you been watching the Eurovision Song Contest

Enough to have most people close to me instinctively know scheduling anything social during a weekend in May needs checking with me first.

Quickly, name three countries whose entries you generally like

Outside of the Scandinavian lot: Albania, France and Moldova.

Carola or Amina - which do you wish had won?

Don't make me choose!

(Carola :lies:)

Do you know who Lotta Engberg is?

Lena's butcher. (Arja can get bent.)

What is your favourite winning song of the...

...2000s?

You're my LUH-VERRR, underCOVERRR

...1990s?

Don't make me choose!

(Diva's objectively more essential but Take Me To Your Heaven's like three minutes of heroin straight to the brain without the inconvenience of any side-effects)

...1980s?

La det swinge. You know a track's doing well when it makes Take Me To Your Heaven sound JOYLESS :disco:

...1970s?

Hallelujah

...1960s?

Non ho l'eta

Can you sing any of the winning songs from the 1950s?

Barely.

If you had a Eurovision song played at your funeral, which would it be?

Nostalgija. I'd have my coffin descend into the flames during the money note.

Is CatCat's Bye Bye Baby the greatest Finnish song ever?

Yes. But it's close between Bye Bye Baby and Hanna Pakarinen and only settled by the video.

Which is your favourite nil points entry ever? (You can pick Pierro and the Music Stars, Little My)

Laß ihn.

100 = You'd throw yourself in front of traffic if you thought they would be impressed by it)

Carola 80

Cliff Richard 20

Ofra Haza 70

Lena Philipsson 100

Skamp 20

What is the most played Eurovision tune on your computer/mp3 player?

Overall probably Euphoria, but that's a bit of a boring answer. Outside of the obvious lot, it'll be Främling nowadays.

Ooh a Russkiy :disco:

Zdravstvuyte tovarisch :military:

Why did you not watch the finals in the last three years? Was it in protest at the non-qualifications of Eva Boto, Valentina Monetta and Mei Finegold? How would you rate the Tolamachevy sisters on a scale from 10 to 12455?

I don't understand. You're a Eurovision fan who didn't watch the finals?

Do you watch the performances, even if you don't watch the final? If UK and Germany are some of your favourites, you would never see them perform in the semis!

I'd watch the final at 4AM even if Azerbaijan were the hot favourites with a dull ballad.

Don't question Poison Pen's certainty on hypothetical situations, you'll find yourself on the receiving end of a BLACK & WHITE THROWDOWN

(about 5 days later)

In lieu of doing any actual work I'm going to revisit my answers from 2008.

In which country do you live?
UK

Still true.

How many years have you been watching the Eurovision Song Contest?
Hmm. I certainly remember Gina G and Dana International. In terms of actually paying close attention I think since 2000, with 2002 being the first year I loved songs that didn't win or come from the UK (Ira Losco, Sahlene, Afro-Dite)

No change here either, I'd say 2008-9 were the years I went FULL LOON. 2013 also a watershed year in that I actually attended for the first time.

Quickly, name three countries whose entries you generally like?
Sweden, Malta, Belarus

BELARUS? :D

Still true I guess, but I'd never put them in my top 3. In recent years I'd say Sweden, Iceland, Estonia.

Carola or Amina - which do you wish had won?
Carola of course. She's Eurovision royalty, and good as that Amina song is, where is she now?

Hmm. Depends on my mood but France REALLY deserved a win in the early 90s. Glad old mad-eyes won at least once though, it'd be silly if she hadn't.

Do you know who Lotta Engberg is?
The WITCH who blocked Arja Saijonmaa of victory at MF 87.

Still true. She has other, better songs though and her TV show is LIFE.

What is your favourite winning song of the...

...2000s?

Helena Paparizou - My Number One

I think Everyway That I Can is my favourite these days. From 2000-2009 anyway. Including 2010-2014 it's Euphoria by a mile.

...1990s?

Charlotte Nilsson - Take Me To Your Heaven

Still true, though Nocturne runs it close.

...1980s?

Sandra Kim - J'aime La Vie

God, really 2008 VoR?

Not the best decade for classic winners in fairness, but for sheer JOIE DE VIVRE I'm saying La de swinge, followed by Ne partez pas sans moi, then Ein bißchen Frieden and Si la vie est cadeau, even though the latter shouldn't have won.

...1970s?

Waterloo, All Kinds Of Everything and Save Your Kisses For Me are the only ones I know. I'm going to say Waterloo.

For SHAME. Tu te reconnaîtras now, followed by the overplayed but still glorious Waterloo.

...1960s?

Sandie Shaw - Puppet On A String

Dansevise now. MESMERING.

Can you sing any of the winning songs from the 1950s?

No but I really like the first every Swedish entry 'Lila Starna'

Een Beetje is the most hummable. I could have a crack at Refrain too. The other two I've heard several times but they're really not very catchy.

If you had a Eurovision song played at your funeral, which would it be?

Xandee - 1 Life

Or seriously Den Vilda would be a nice funeral song.

Nocturne now methinks.

Is CatCat's Bye Bye Baby the greatest Finnish song in ever?

I can't say I know it.

I know it now and yes, probably. Though I have a major soft spot for När jag blundar.

Which is your favourite nil points entry ever? (You can pick Pierro and the Music Stars, Little My)

Is there a list out there? I probably barely know any.

Antes do adeus is LOVELY. Yeah fuck you Gunvor.

Carola

90

Downgrading to an 80 for the abortion that was One Love and fannying about with tribute albums for the last few years.

Cliff Richard

20

Same. NONCE SENSE.

Ofra Haza

80

Fair

Lena Philipsson

100

OBVIOUSLY :disco:

A 10 for comedy value

What is the most played Eurovision tune on your computer/mp3 player?

Charlotte Perrelli - Hero

Before that it was Framling by Carola

Probably still true. Euphoria must be up there now though.

Post-The Miseducation of Dinlo

Quickly, name three countries whose entries you generally like
Belarus, Azerbaijan, Iceland

:D NO REGRETS IN BELARUS. Azerbaijan not so much. I'd say Serbia, Slovenia and Sweden.

What is your favourite winning song of the...

...2000s?
I Wanna :shy:

:D :disco:

Now I'd say either Every Way That I Can or Satellite. Marie N always in my heart tho xox

...1990s?
Diva :disco:

Still true, although Nocturne wouldn't be far behind.

If you had a Eurovision song played at your funeral, which would it be?
Drip Drop, sung LIVE by Safira doing her Beyonce-inspired choreography around my casket

Who the fuck is Safira? It could only ever be Oro.

Which is your favourite nil points entry ever? (You can pick Pierro and the Music Stars, Little My)
I've only heard Cry Baby, but that's not my favourite ANYTHING

It genuinely is Celebrate :D

Rate the following out of 100...

Carola 90 she does have the 'gratest vagina of them all'

PFFT. Vile old harridan. 15

Cliff Richard 10 I'd push, but only if there weren't many witnesses

Upgraded to 20 for being topical.

Ofra Haza 50 Indifferent

Oh she's great. 85

Lena Philipsson 80 dressed like Pocahontwhore!

Same.

Skamp 25 make it stop :gross:

Awful. 10.

What is the most played Eurovision tune on your computer/mp3 player?
I think it's 'It's All About You' by Juliana Pasha (Albania 2010). A proper max track. :disco:

I think it's now I Love Belarus :D.

If your music taste is UNBELIEVABLY batshit crazy, you may be banned.

So you know me from another forum.

I heard only about 2 main claims to my countdowns:
1. They are endless.

Answer : I didn't post them very often. It's my replacement of weekly personal charts (don't compile them). Usually I have 1 very long countdown and 3-5 small in 1 year.

2. Your music taste is awful, we don't have interest / don't want read this shit.

Answer : I'm more wise now and wouldn't post "Worst" charts. "Best" charts are not so bad, even if I like some cheap / funny pop songs. Yes, my opinion is very different than yours, but it's more a people's prejudice against them.

I know you from another forum. And I don't mind your countdowns, some epic songs have emerged from them.

He considers Conchita Wurst's victory to be a 'disgrace to the contest' and posted 'Eurovision 1956 - 2014' the day after she won.
