Israel's participation in Eurovision 2024

That woman's been cornering all the acts backstage at the pre-parties and asking them to send out a message for their Israeli fans. I feel for them, difficult situation to be put in, especially for people not speaking in their first language.

As much as I love ESC, there does seem to be a dark cloud increasingly building over this year and a lot of the conversation online has gotten really nasty in a way that totally dwarfs any of the fallout that followed Loreen/Kaarija

It's sad to say but part of me just wants May out the way now so we can move on.
This is me. I'm not looking forward to it in any way and I'd sooner not watch. It's just another fucking politicised year where attention is going to everything other than the quality of the songs.

Maybe I'll be a bit more into it next year but I've checked out at this point.

This came second last in the semi final at my Eurovision Party last night. No booing but almost total silence when it ended apart from a few people clapping. Quite a lot of upset people that I played it and three people left the room while it was on, two of them went into the toilet and put their hands over their ears, according to my friend who walked out of a cubicle and saw them shouting ‘Is it over?’ ‘Make it stop!’. I was glad it didn’t qualify as I got people on stage to announce the qualifiers and it would have been an awkward moment for the person who had to shout Israel. I was adamant that I was including them to stay neutral but I didn’t hang up the Israeli flag or play any other Israeli songs the rest of the night.

I think the audience in the arena will be much more vocal but I know a lot of Eurovision fans who are also supporting this song so who knows.

LMFAO! Childish much? How old are they? It's just a (very good) song. :basil:

Are we sure they weren't responding to the friend doing something DISGRACEFUL in the toilet cubicle and he's made this story up as a cover up? I want a full investigation launched.

That Eurovision Party sounds like a nightmare, they had to go through all the songs, vote in the semifinals, and then vote again in a final, all in one go? Good God.

At the preview party we were at the other night, @Suomi did the classy thing and made a stand by just quietly going to the bar when this came on.

Unfortunately I wasn’t quite so classy and gave him a drink order I knew they didn’t have so he had to sheepishly walk back across the floor midway through.

It was semi one then voting, semi two then voting, then qualifier reveals, then the 6 finalists and one last round of voting of 26 songs. They voted using https://eurovisionvote.party which is a pretty cool scoreboard generator.

That way we get the semi final results which everyone liked.

I didn’t think anyone would be interested in it, to be honest. You’re all more than welcome to come to one of the future ones. I advertised it on Facebook and Instagram, and on the OGAE UK FB group.
I was joking! :D

Latvia came lower than Israel in the semi at a preview event I went to a couple of weeks ago as well, as did San Marino.
