Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd (24 March 2023) (1 Viewer)

Paris, Texas
Margaret
Fishtail
Pepper
Taco Truck x VB

my first listen FAVES. but I was somewhat napping. excited to get stuck in SOON

I've compiled a list of the currently unreleased tracks and the Moopy user that I think will like it the most, and what it's reminiscent of. Feel free to let me know how wrong I am on album release day 🥴

Sweet @Iguana - Sweet Carolina
Candy Necklace - TBD hasn't leaked
Kintsugi @Building A Mystery - God Knows I Tried
Fingertips @Tisch - White Dress
Paris, Texas @Apoca - Bartender
Grandfather... @VoR - 13 Beaches
Let The Light In @Jark - Dance Till We Die
Margaret @joanne - Tomorrow Never Came (but this is more Taylor Swift evermore vibes than anything)
Fishtail @jivafox - Tulsa Jesus Freak meets Cinnamon Girl
Peppers @Pipo - nothing tbh
Taco Truck/VB @Dark Carnival / @RJN - High By the Beach
I predict that whomever stans Venice Bitch hardest will quite enjoy Taco Truck x VB. just a hunch tho.

The thing with Sweet and Kingstu is that they're very Lana by numbers, she's done this a million times before and with more chutzpah.

Fuck you Jackie Antonoff, leave her alone please.

Kingstu, the shade. It’s actually quite fresh for her I think. It’s the country folk moment we have been waiting for (Breaking Up Slowly doesn’t exist thx) Probably one the most beautiful songs she’s done, just takes a few listens to absorb.

I find Honeymoon difficult too so you'll probably LOVE it!
What on earth is DIFFICULT about Honeymoon? Sometimes I just don't understand you people. Anyway it sounds like a recommendation if the new album is anything like that undisputed (:eyes:) career highlight :disco:

@jivafox Get your blue nail polish on luv - let's DANCE!

Free promo from Ms. Taylor "Lana Del Rey has a new album out... I think she's the best we have, stream and support this artist. In honor of her phenomenal album I'm going to play 'Snow on the Beach'"

All 16 tracks debuted on UK Spotify. Her first album where every song has charted. 12 of the 16 debuted in the USA. It did less stellar globally, but it looks like it still may outperform NFR's debut.

the streaming numbers are fantastic. she's a force in the UK, I expect a 40-45k debut.

poor Margaret though!

105-115k projected for the album in the US... would be her biggest debut since Honeymoon (116k). Hopefully it stays in the six figure range, I assume it will be pretty front loaded.

HITS: LANA, LUKE, JIMIN LEAD NEW RELEASES

The Top 5 on next Friday’s HITS Top 50 will be home to three major new releases. Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (Interscope) is tracking to first week activity of 105-115k range. This will be her biggest debut since 2015’s Honeymoon, which opened with 116k.

BTS’ Jimin will see his debut solo EP, FACE (BigHit/Geffen) start off at 100-110k. Country continues to demonstrate its growing strength in streaming as Luke Combs’ latest, Gettin’ Old (River House/Columbia Nashville) is projecting to first week streams of 70-80m and a total of 85-95k.

Jimin (BigHit/Geffen) 100-110k

Luke Combs (River House/Columbia Nashville) 85-95k

This album is a lot, but my standout of the new songs on first listen was Let The Light In. Candy Necklace also emerged unscathed from a somewhat trying middle section.

The run towards the end of the album is strong but I wish the Taco Truck part of the closing track was fleshed out a little more.

@POP! do you know now much her last few albums have opened with? This is great news for her

Born to Die - 77,000
Paradise - 67,000
Ultraviolence - 182,000
Honeymoon - 116,000
Lust for Life - 107,000
Norman Fucking Rockwell - 104,000
Chemtrails - 75,000
Blue Banisters - 33,000
Did You Know... - 105,000-115,000 projected

Quite the return to commercial form

Blue Bannisters really suffered from "Chemtrails" being a bit of a misfire, didn't it? That and the utterly batshit roll-out with the binned Windows 98 artwork.

So is this going UK number 1 please?

The competition is Depeche Mode who have had their best critical notices in nearly 20 years. But they're involved in some pricing experiment where the plain CD is £18 and the "deluxe" (which has no extra music!) is £25 so the industry is watching to see what impact this has on sales. If it has none at all, watch for massive price rises across the board.

The vinyls didn't ship the first week so that hurt its first week sales somewhat, but still it underperformed. I think it came too quick after Chemtrails (which already didn't do spectacular) for people to care. And like Lana said, she didn't want people to hear it :)

here's the tracklist I'm working with currently

01 The Grants
02 Grandfather...
03 Paris, Texas
04 Fishtail
05 Candy Necklace
06 A&W
07 Let the Light In
08 Margaret
09 Peppers
10 Taco Truck x VB
11 Sweet

Let the Light In is my surprise fave today. it's so Lust For Life era. love Lana on a country-ish guitar midtempo.
