looks like Paris, Texas will be the one to gain instant traction then, Candy Necklace is bombing down hard (~130 places from Sat to Sun on UK spotify)

This tracklist order works SO WELL. It makes it into a much more accessible album and is now the official order, THANK YOU Ms @Jark

midweeks are in :disco:

1 Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd (32,861)
[28,762 physicals, 797 downloads, 3,302 streaming]

should be good for 40k+. the physical sales are insane!

I realised that the melody in Peppers that's very reminiscent of another LDR song is the rhythm of the "I just wanna dance with you" parts in Happiness is a Butterfly. quite a few NFR! callbacks on this album, she obviously considers it her best work. taste!

So even if DM hadn't gone for a silly price point, they probably weren't looking at #'1 anyway.

Who on earth are Fall Out Boy? (I know I can look on wiki so no need to explain.) I initially read it as Badly Drawn Boy which felt a bit implausible in 2023

Very jealous of anyone who hasn't heard of Fall Out Boy and thus didn't spend the noughties in spray-on skinny jeans and badly applied eyeliner.

What are her previous first week sales in the UK? I assume it is on track to match or beat Chemtrails?

I'm quite obsessed with the album now, there's so much to engage with. My rankings currently would be:

Top tier Lana
A&W
Ocean Blvd
The Grants

Stanning over
Fishtail
Margaret
Paris, Texas
Peppers

Really love
Sweet
Taco Truck v VB
Candy Necklaces

Very much enjoying
Let The Light In
Grandfather

Thanks but no thanks

the best performing album tracks are Candy Necklace, Peppers, Let the Light In, Taco Truck and Paris, Texas (which is doing almost a million a day still). the last two albums didn't have multiple album tracks doing numbers like this

also NFR! had its biggest streaming day in 4 years yesterday and Cinnamon Girl did 610k which is up there with her usual West Coast / Doin' Time numbers. here for it becoming one of her SIGNATURE HITS.

DESERVED! One of the best songs on the best album.

Those 'Tunnel' numbers look insane. Over a million for EVERY track?

Wednesday mids

1 Lana Del Rey - Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd (36,806) [30,681 physicals, 918 downloads, 5,207 streaming] *
2 Depeche Mode - Memento Mori (20,023) *
3 Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust (18,178) *

I think it's just timing (two albums in one year was a lot for the casuals and both were so low key) and A&W especially doing a good job of getting the more casual fans on board, personally. she was away just long enough to miss.

also her streaming legacy is growing exponentially all the time which can't help but give new music a better chance. and her team are shit hot at vinyls and variants and have made her records a must-have for LDR stans, collectors and left-field pop fans.

the mystique around her personal life seems to constantly build too, especially because she keeps it hidden except in her music. it's a perfect storm...

She was at some Billboard event a couple of weeks ago and she seemed nice, down to Earth, and approachable. Even Olivia Rodrigo and Rosalia managed to get a pic with her; I think the mysterious aura surrounding her is because she doesn't do a lot of press and has managed to tone it down on social media.
