Trust me - even I am surprised by this, but here I am as 2023 is about to draw to an end and I can honestly say I STILL haven't got around to actually exploring PJ Harvey's music. Alt-female is absolutely my thing but it just hasn't happened for me!

I want to use this thread to take ALL OF YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS and I will pop my thoughts in here as a first time listener.

Lets go!

I’ve tried with Peej, but I generally admire her far more than I love her.

To Bring You My Love and Let England Shake by far my favourites though. The fanbase seems quite split on the latter though.

I would definitely start on To Bring You My Love. It has plenty of spike but it also very melodic and well-recorded which means it isn't as overwhelming as some of her other albums.

I started with Rid of Me after hearing Rub 'Til It Bleeds and becoming obsessed, then moved backwards, then moved forwards. So I'll always think of it as a fine place to start.
