The Crown - Netflix Elizabeth II Drama

They decided to extend the series to 6 seasons instead of 5 and added Leslie Manville as Margret.

That's good, it did sound suspiciously like it was being wrapped up in a rush when they announced the fifth season as the last.

Jonathan Price will play old Philip and Elizabeth Debicki :disco: will play Diana

I loved DeBicki as Jordan in Gatsby (objectively the best character). I look forward to tackling the best character in the Windsor cinematic universe.

i watched the first episode when it came out and didn't follow through because there was so much else on offer and i can't say i care much about the monarchy. anyway, i saw a couple more episodes when i was home with my parents the last few days (my mom has started it) and i have to say claire foye is absolutely wonderful in this. i'm almost sad that colman will be stepping in.

adjusting to Colman after Foy is quite difficult. Claire Foy OWNS the role to the point that she is The Crown to me. but Colman is also very good in a more understated way.

OMG I didn't know we had a season 4 teaser already. and it's coming so soon! I can't! :disco:

I could not get used to Colman in this. I'm interested to see how Anderson does (brilliantly, I suspect) but my attention did wane last time around.

So many ASTONISHING ACTRESSES in this. I thought Coleman was good as the Queen going through those rough 1970s. Bonham Carter less so, but her interpretation was within expectations. The biggest fuck up of series 3 was ignoring the Princess Anne kidnap attempt. In fact, generally underusing Anne full stop.

Anne was so fabulous. Hoping they do more with her this season.

I keep hoping someone will give that preview of Diana a Camilla turnaround. I've given up looking for suitable CPB footage :D

I enjoy Coleman as a sole guest on chat shows, but didn't think she was anything major on this.

one of my favourite things about this is googling for stuff as i have never seen it and events have been photographed pretty well. i've come across gems like this:

is charles still next in line? no wonder people want the queen to live forever.

also, are they saying she was pretty much always old lady?

oslo, not feeling margaret. riding off on a motorcycle was cool but bringing those trashy people to the palace was rude, you feel me?

also also, i can never tell if matthew goode is good. what is it about him? he's always so matthew goode.

the scenes where the show loses its magic (for me) have been mostly ones he's featured in though it seems to be getting increasingly melodramatic as it goes further into the second season.

i hate that i started watching from season two

(in the voice of claire foy doing the queen) here's another treasure:

I'll be disappointed if the costume designer doesn't lean into the hideous outfits they were all wearing in this era.

The best thing I can say about that trailer is that for two minutes it made me completely forget how any of that stuff ends :disco: I'm GOOPED. This looks like the season they've been gagging to make all along.

Season 6 should be a high concépt flash forward

the year is 2079, Queen Liz is still ruling from her plutonium powered mecha exoskeleton, getting affronted by the tough lesbian PM (played by Pam St Clements) and her no-nonsense approach to the encroaching heat death of the Sun
