The UK: The Keir Starmer years (1 Viewer)

£2.27 better off. If I drink more beer then I’ll be even better off, which sounds like reason enough on its own.

"You will be £0.00 better off"

STARMER OUT, STREETING OUT (OF AN AEROPLANE WITHOUT A PARACHUTE)

Apparently I'll be a tenner worse off mainly because I have the temerity to drink cider (and the rest...) instead of beer.

£21 worse off.

If I can continue to give up the fags then the beer price drop should see me in the green :disco:

It says just a few quid worse off for me due to booze, but it doesn't have an option for being a contractor through an umbrella company - apparently the employer NI thing will cost me a bit. Can't say I'm too BOTHERED though.

What’s the NI part Kate I didn’t really understand that

I’m a sole trader but I instructed my accountant to pay full NI for the year to keep my contributions going. Is this changing in the budget or just umbrella contractors?

I don't know how it works as a sole trader - do you pay both employer and employee NI?

If you're not paying yourself through PAYE then I don't think it matters as your NICs are voluntary, but I could be wrong as I am notoriously shit/uninterested in anything to do with accounting

:D!

Get them checked for DEMENTIA because they aren’t living in this world!

Sorry, WHAT? Do they even sense check this SHITE before they publish? If you have 70 Buy to Let properties, even if they're fucking HOLES, you're clearing £35k a month income as OAPs! :D

I read into this earlier, they have 60 properties, around 30% equity totaling something like £4.5m in assets.

They are blaming Labour but when they say they've gone back to work its because they begrudge paying agent fees so they're doing checks and minor repairs themselves.

Parasitic Tory cunts. I hope they fall off a ladder.

I've just looked them up. From what I can tell they live on a very expensive, tree lined, 1950s, cul-de-sac. My heart bleeds.

I do but out of choice. I don't have to pay NI if I don't want to.

edit - oh sorry I misunderstood. I only pay employee NI. I don't employ anyone.

it will never happen but I really think it's high time we (not just the uk) had a serious dialogue about LANDLORDS. they're privileged to be able to buy multiple properties to make income off, they make renting increasingly unaffordable when the entire concept of renting is that it IS affordable, they seem to think that owning property IS A JOB IN ITSELF - it's not and never will be, get off your arse and work a fucking 9 to 5 - and for SOME REASON I really can't fathom they seem to DICTATE POLICY - their rights are always prioritised over those of tenants.

why? 35% of the uk adult population rents. 7% are landlords. in Berlin a few years ago a reform law was passed to protect renters only for the German supreme court to overturn it. and that's a country where 54% of the population rents.

I know I know it's late stage capitalism etc but I don't understand why there isn't a lot more pressure on governments to fucking tell landlords - sorry, you don't have any rights, if our policies hurt your income then go and get a job. the cost of living crisis would be massively eased for many if rent was being controlled properly.

I think all we're seeing there is a few people realising that Reform was just a pantomime horse. Labour's percentages collapsed during the election campaign, remember.

The Cons must be thrilled that they’re not literal minutes away from electing either a bona fide nutcase or the most singularly dislikable man in Britain to lead them into this brave new dawn…
